Live1 battery is gonna go before the deuce. You can purchase a replacement (not cheap), but I dont think theres been any verification of anyone replacing it themselves, or of it would void the warranty. Its been a 'cross that bridge when we get there' thing... but the bridge gets a little closer every beat...

Fair enough. Hopefully someone helpful will post a video showing the process.

By the time the battery goes bad in either the Live 1 or 2, the warranty will be long expired so no worry about voiding anything. But yeah - a DIY "Fix It" tutorial to R/R the battery yourself would be awesome. Right now the only price we can see for the actual battery for the Live is from MPC Stuff, and it sells for a laughably low price of $264 USD (224 Euro).

Why is everyone going on about battery life? I have a iPad air 1 that's still going strong after many years of daily use. I'm more worried about that rubber coating lol.

Since it's just on the Live/Live 2, maybe it's to help with gripping while carrying? They position the Live series as being completely mobile, etc - and the rubberized coating does make for a better grip compared to smooth metal or plastic. And while I get that the One is also "mobile", it's also an order of magnitude smaller and lighter, and without a battery it's not really marketed towards mobile musicians, hence the smooth outside. Just a random guess, though.

Akai should use the old boom box marketing on the Live 2 line...

Touch was a transitional proving ground for the Live. Form factor, functionality, almost everything about it was to test the waters, IMHO.

There's lots of people ditching the MPC X for the MPC One. There's not enough pro functions on that machines to warrant the price. What can the X or Live really do that the ONE can't. More knobs, Bigger screen, Battery and Speaker.

Why 10? The amount of features/value is completely subjective. That said, you know very well what the X can do over the One.
