Arranger for the MPC-series sequencers: is there a place?

currently, you cannot copy a song (idea) so you cannot try out multiple arrangements (that way)
i see a place for a LIST song edit, where you list all your sequences the way you'd like in the tempo/ratio you'd like, the repeats you'd like, the jumps you'd like ; something like a reference structured program, a bit like a tracker
because turn it how you'd like, a song plays from start to end, sequentially - even those 4 minutes silence songz

But really, it would be enough if AKAI added alias tracks, i.e. MIDI data that when used in multiple sequences is all updated together when one is edited.
And some f**king MIDI editing improvements, like painting notes by dragging on the timeline, changing note length or panning/zooming without needing to switch tools, etc.

Eventually yes. But it will probably mean some changes to the classic/current mpc workflow.

It would be cool to have some sort of clip launch for every track, and then record your song while your jamming. The other option would be a multitrack view with all of the tracks you made across over your sequences, but i find it hard to make that without having a clear overview. Let's say you have a bass on track 1 in 4 different sequences. Would you get 4 tracks in the arranger view? Or how would you be able to select one of the 4 different tracks of the 4 sequences? Some serious things to consider.

Since you explained it that way,that's your song MODE then. Same way in the 2000xl only thing was l went to song mode andvstarted dailing in my arrangements. Take the different sequences l set up and put them in.

I don’t care much for the arrangement, but I do hope they bring from the Force the ability to record on the fly audio/midi to clips .

Allegedly, Dan G (from Akai, who went by xparis001 over at GS) said over at the GS Live thread over a year ago that Arranger would make its way to the current MPC line-up as well, but it would be an option in settings. They obviously would have to keep the existing workflow as an option just to maintain compatibility, as well as not lose the legions of MPC-heads who are averse to leaving the workflow they have grown accustomed to for decades. Some peeps just don't handle change very well.

Slightly related... Over a year ago in June 2019, the Senior Product Manager of Akai said that disc streaming will be a 3.0 thing, which also alluded to a 1:1 track model as well (presumably shown in the Arranger screens shown in this thread):

disk streaming is going to be a 3.0 thing, because in 2.x there's no concept of a 1 to 1 track model, so it's a pile of confusion. for instance, seq 1 can be drums on track 3, then on seq 2 it could be on track 10, or completely different programs entirely.

3.0 will be a 1 to 1 model (like force is now). track 1, when you add a drum kit or plugin will then be on track 1 in all sequences. this is probably our #1 request, actually.

So, that was Akai's stance 15 months ago. Whether or not Dan G. is still an employee or the Senior Product Manager still, and whether or not Akai's plans have changed for the One/Live/X remains to be seen.

just wondering; don't you guys think the mpc live/x/one screen is a bit too small to be comfortable in an arranger mode?

Not sure how much tracks you all use, but i use to go up to 20/30 tracks for an instrumental. I would probably go mad having to do that in the mpc without a mouse.

Force's screen is the same as One/Live and I've not seen people complaining, also because the track size is freely resizeable:

+1000! Definitely not enough real estate. Even trying to mix 30 tracks on this machine is tedious, without mapping a control surface.

They need to leave that arranger on The Force and never bring it out of beta.

Cool - thanks for sharing this! Yeah, the fact that you can zoom in like that using the Q-Links makes it completely usable, IMHO. Looking forward to seeing how it's changed over the past several months since that beta video was recorded over 5 months ago.
