loading audio samples from computer

Hey y'all. Kind of dumbfounded I'm having such hard time with this. I'm trying to simply drag a folder of audio samples from my computer hard drive onto the SSD on my mpc live. I'm on a mac. I have the MPC connected in controller mode. The MPC drive shows up in my finder, but it won't let me drag any files to it--no matter the size or file type. there's an eerily small amount of info on this in the manual or on the internet (isn't this one of the first things everyone wants to do when they get an mpc??).

Is the SSD formatted in NTFS? If so, you may need a software called Paragon NTFS for Mac.

Or better yet, just reformat it as ExFAT before you start copying a bunch of samples to it. That way you can read/write from Windows, OS X, Linux, etc.

I dont know bout ExFat, Fat32, Mac, Cheese formats .

I recommend formatting an SD Card, HDD, SSD drives wit any Windows Computer, before inserting in ya MPC.

I've Never had any problems

ExFat FTW... you can try extfs as well... since it is native and allows fun stuff like hard linking... but I tried it and went back to ExFat myself.

hey all. thanks for this. i'm using a mac and exfat doesn't work. i don't know how the ssd is formatted. how would i look that up? this really seems crazy a sampler computer cant just drag and drop smh.

btw i didn't install the ssd i bought used and it was already in. so not sure what to do next

so the drive shows up in my finder sidebar but won't let me drag anything to it. also the mpc screen says "looking for computer". that said, i can listen to wavs from the SSD on my computer. anyone know what to do? do the parts i bolded below from the disc utility have anything to do with it?

Your problem is painfully obvious (shown near the top). The hard drive is in NTFS format. Which means the previous owner probably formatted it using Windows. Macs running OS X can read NTFS drives but cannot write to them (at least without special software/drivers). The MPC can read NTFS.

Your best option is to copy any files still located on the MPC’s SSD to your Mac’s hard drive, format the SSD as ExFAT (either when mounted to the Mac with Controller mode or by using the MPC settings itself to format the drive when disconnected from the Mac). After the SSD is properly formatted as ExFAT you will be able to drag files from the Mac to the SSD when the MPC is in Controller mode and you see it mounted on the Mac’s desktop.
