It actually WAS in almost daily use up until I moved about 2 years ago haha. By the time I got my computer and everything set back up, I was veering into the MPC Studio so that whole 'my world just changed' thing was going on haha. Now with the USB MIDI I can finally put my SQ-1 to use as a MIDI->CV converter and use it. It just varies from song to song what pieces I grab first before I fill it up with noise. Some days I have a hard enough time even using other gear, the MPC can pretty much carry most of the weight by itself if you need it to. With that and my EMU and like 100+GB of samples, I probably should sell the stuff like my Microwave and make a couple grand real quick heh.

Thread too long and didn’t read but if you want something streamlined just use your sampler as the osc or voice get a modular filterbank and vca.

I’d just replicate the structure of a mutator perhaps with a few different filters to chose from. Behringer made a few new filter banks I wanted to look into but was turned off about the actual quality of their analog devices.

I went down that rabbit hole years ago and found noise was always an issue and I could get better quality out of effects pedals and rack gear.

Although some of the Dave rossum stuff peaked my interest, I didn’t find the need for more and more.

So to be concise. Envelope follower> filter bank>vca . You essentially have your own custom synth. I’d go with Ssm and cem filter modules personally but that’s up to you...

You cant go wrong with Mutable Instruments

'Plaits' as an oscillator (its like having 16 oscillators!) , Ripples Filter (which is also a VCA) and a Stages (ADSR/LFO/Sequencer)

Keep you busy for years even standalone without the 8 CV inputs from an MPC!

I hope AKAI support the CV side now they have it on several units...it would be nice to be able to output ADSR. LFOs etc

As for me, I buy gear with a purpose and I'm not an impulse buyer. I'm actually the opposite because I'll research something until I actually don't want it. All my gear was acquired over time and I've always been careful with what buy and I'm try not to be emotionally attached to gear. If I buy something and it's not working for me, I will return it, put it up for sale, or give it away. I'll check out the modular grid site, thank you.

Damn, guess I'm missing out on some extra functionality. We've got 4 cv slots on the ONE. Might be fun to explore some of this gear down the line.
