hi everyone.
I am a long time mpc2000xl user, I read the forum posts but none is solvin my issue.
point is I had a problem with the xl. which one I don't know. outta the blue it start showing numbers and letters when I booted it. so I open it and plug again everything to be sure erythin is at its place. after that the mpc turn on like it's supposed to BUT is showing all the lights on.

then it's asking me to put the mpc2000xl disk

after I put it things seem normal except that the light on the zip reader stays green and if I try to eject the zip it won't allow me.

so I try to load (Shift+Load) and doing this make the screen say it's not ready, but at the same time it ejects the disk.

then If i try to put and old zip of mine with my libraries and projects it seems it aint able to read it.

:WTF: :WTF: :WTF: :WTF: :WTF: :Sigh: :Sigh: :Sigh: :Sigh: :Sigh:

anybody went thru this? (I doubt since I didn't find any topic)
anybody has any idea?

thank for the help

peace

No because it isn't likely your XL even has the F-Rom card installed.

I already got an issue with my mpc that sounded very similar to yours. It happened a while back but I know it wouldnt read cards anymore etc. I than changed the zip card reader and the issue was gone. I'm not saying that is the definite solution but you could give it a shot if you cant find another solution. If your going to do that i suggest you just switch to a cf card reader and get a cheap scsi external zip reader. You can switch between os versions 1.4 and 2.0 if you want to go work on your old beats that are on zip (or find a cf reader that works with 1.4)

but I have the F rom, I can phisically see it inside

If you have the Flash ROM card then sell it, you may be able to get upwards of $250-300 for it.

The Flash ROM card has no bearing on the boot process of the XL, let alone preventing your zip drive from working.

If you believe that it could be an issue, then consider removing it and seeing if anything changes.

You can actually load beats made on 1.14 on 1.20 without issue. So re-flashing the operating system really isn't necessary in this particular case.
