What could an MPC X mk II be like?

What improvements would you like to see in an MPC X mk II?

And what do you think Akai will actually do (if they do make a sequel)?

Monitor out and mouse support. Then I would dump my live and get a X2.

everyone wanted a "standalone" now everyone wants "a monitor and mouse".

64 pads, 52" screen, and HDMI passthrough. With a DVR.

On a serious note, I'm wondering what actual MPC-X users would really want at this point? What are the glaring issues that you'd want addressed on an MPC-X "version 2" (that could be addressed while keeping the exact same 2 GB of RAM and CPU that we all know they'll use to keep things in line with the Live 2, One, and Force)?

I think most MPC X users rather have the a decent software upgrade instead of a hardware upgrade.

100% because if they don't, no one is going to buy the MPC X MK II. This is one reason so many people down graded from the X to One.

Speculating based on what I have been reading on this forum. If I would have an X I wouldn’t want an X MKII before they improved or add some OS features. There is still a lot that can be improved without having to update the hardware. Like CR pointed out, lot of people pick the One over the X, so I don’t think there’s much to gain for now by improving the hardware.

Your speculations are correct.

As a previous MPC X owner... I really liked almost the entire experience. Main reason for selling was because I don't need 3+ MPCs.

The form factor and size are great. It's big, but not a beast like the 4k. The 4 ins was freaking brilliant, and *nearly* gets you out of needing a crappy desk mixer. The OLED displays on the Q-Links are game changers, and probably the one thing I miss from going back to the Live. I do think that dropping a digital in/out of any kind is very poor.

My short list of what I'd be looking for with hardware:
* Improved touch screen, the bigger screen *is* better than the Live, but only because the size makes it more accurate
* ADAT or similar digital ins/outs, I mean come on!
* 6 or 8 Inputs... greedy? Perhaps... but gets me that much further away from needing/wanting a mixer
* 4 way split pads. Keep the 4x4 grid, but have each pad be able to function as a single pad or have different events per 2x2 quadrant on the pad. This would let it do Force kinds of tricks
* Thunderbolt port to let you expand audio ins/outs through a class compliant audio device
* Dedicated arranger controls... (to go with arrangement software)
* Upgradable memory... fine to start at 2gb... for those that want 8gb or 16gb... let them go nuts.
* 8 CV inputs... because dang could we do cool generative effects if we could just get it back in and route things around... plus just recording CV... could be sweet
