Digital optical SPDIF connections - MPC1000 to SONY PCM D50

Hi all—first post so go easy.

I've been using my MPC1000 for a long time now and recently got into digital connections. SPDIF in from my audio interface sounds so clean.

I'm thinking of doing some field recordings and managed to score a neat Sony PCM D50 for a good price. I see that it has digital (optical) inputs and outputs in mini-jack form.

I want to know if I'm able to connect this to my MPC at all? If so, what cable will I need? Is there any optical/coaxial incompatibility?

For anyone wondering the same thing, I found my answer on page 50 of the manual:

Note: The format of the MPC1000’s digital input is coaxial type. If your digital device has an optical output, you cannot connect it to the MPC1000 directly. You will need an adapter.
