They fixed the 'Assign Slice to Pad' bug and the MIDI 'Send to' bug.

Can anyone else confirm if the MIDI send to bug has been fixed for them? I’m still encountering the same issue. If I copy a sequence, the midi “send to” settings for midi tracks of the copied sequence reset back to “<none>“.

This is more of hold you over update, I expect another announcement and some kind of update in January 2021.
As far as the Drum Synth goes, I'm sure people will find ways to use.

Not problem with the drum synth. However, an upcoming 3.0 update worries me a bit as that might entail a new hardware platform as well and maybe only half-assed updates for the existing line of MPCs that eventually break those current machines. It happens in every area of computing, from computers to phones to tv's and I have yet to see if Akai will be any different in that regard. The current MPCs don't have a lot of power under the hood, and spending money on those weak ass processors and 2GB of ram kinda makes it feel like a bit of a rip-off if Akai is not committed to maintaining the current line (and that they probably are not in the way such a shift necessitates is kinda evident by the fact that they still did not fix all the bugs in the current firmware and occasionally even introduce new ones).

If you like it that's fine but don't expect others to be feeling it. If you look around others wanted other things and l haven't seen one person ask for this . Have you? I wouldn't call it hatred just convo bro. Im glad it works for you.

The drumsynth is fantastic :worthy: it covers a wide range of sounds with all their different engines.
You can do some micro tonic like sounds but also some 808 type sounds. And try some automation with it.

I m using my live as a standalone unit. it powers my bass station which I use for sounds, filtering and as a Midicontroller.

I agree! Akai haven't really adressed the bugs. From what l see here and valid complaints. If someone complains about a valid bug That's not hate its support. To hate on Akai would be telling out right lies. Separate the lies from legit complaints then one can say hate.

Getting a drum synth is not ground breaking. If l had Akai l would adress the bugs first. Then come with all the candy then add the drum synths. But first Akai should be beta testing. In 2017 they got many of us to pay while beta testing  It will never happen again TO ME!

I never had any issue with the pitch shifting effect. The key is selecting the proper mode for the particular sound. But again it really comes down to the person, knowing what key the song is in and selecting the instruments that sound good in that range.

yeah but my guess is those plug in instruments (like the tube synth etc..) were originally designed to be VSTi hosted in a wrapper within a daw.... where that wrapper was responsible for things like a master pitch of the whole vst, and what not... mixer assigning, what ever the case is. The standalone mpc doesn't have that.. those plug ins are running straight pipe without those settings. they would have to do a bit of extra coding than a direct port. using the pitch effect plug in to take care of tuning your tube synth out of tune to your sample doesn't cut it IMO... and while sure, you can say making beats in proper tune is the right way of doing things... maybe i don't want to, or i wouldn't mind automating the tune or many other possibilities.

Not sure I am not using the other plugins at all. Howevery having the ability to pitch Kick, Snarebody is great as I find it really hard to find out the frequency of those on sampled instruments even using a fft.

The pitch shifter effect or instruments are not the issue. It really comes down to the person and if they know what they're doing. Developing ear ones ear, will only make the musician a better musician. Also.. I agree that having a direct master tuning knob for each instrument, would be the best option.

I find that the Drum Synth is usable and can yield some interesting results if the musician has the patience layer and manipulate it.

A tuner would be simple, yet great plug effect to add. But if you're unsure by ear, download drum tuner app and use your phone.

I understand and all we can do is wait for it drop, then let other people test it out.

I agree, they should fix the bugs, continue to optimized the code, and add features. Each month Akai Pro should be pushing out bug fixes. This is what these machines need, it also shows that they're listening to their clients. This is how you keep the community engaged.

Post on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter every time a new bug fix is ready. As enthusiast we're going to find things that they don't know about, because we use the machine all day long, in a real world studio session.

Oh man, I'm so glad I didn't pull the trigger on one of those new MPCs a couple months ago...
I was really looking into getting MPC X but after I read about problems with the OS, bugs, low quality updates and shitty support from Akai I changed my mind pretty quick. Hoped that maybe something changed for the better with 2.9, but nope...

Pitching down drums is messing up the transients? Could you expain how? Plus why are you pitching down drums? Pitch down or up a sample yeah but drums? Why? Im able to lay one drum kick at middle C on my keyboard and they all sound fine until its to high or low.

Well I am pitching drums as they have to match the scale of my track. Not sure why anyone wouldn't do so. Natural drums get tuned as well by the way. If you have a kick and a bass hitting at the same time it will sound shit even sidechained if those aren't tuned to each other.

Why does pitching down a sample affects the transient in a bad way? Well the transient does not influence the way the pitch is percieved as it usually is a very fast short impulse which despite bein that short is an important bit of information. If pitching down a drumsynth (any synth that is doing drums) the pitch envelope time stays the same so the transient time stays the same, pitching down a sample also affects the transient. Additionally to that pitching in modern samplers is working like a kind of timestretching as there is one global samplerate and reducing speed can not be done by just slowing down the sample as it still has to match the overall frequency of the da converter it is converted with. So by slowing it down additional information is added and the sound changes (unlike with a akai s950 for example). The difference will be small but can make the difference of stuff sounding spot on or smeared, at least that is what I experienced.

Oh, and I would have loved to have a relieable midiclock, transportoptions using sync to link as well as a solution to a groundloop from using a lan connection to my computer and probably liked it more than a drumsynth plugin but still I am glad for every bit I won't have to use the computer for and don't see the point spending lots of money for xox drums in eurorack format as there are other more interesting options. As I don't use any of the other plugins within the mpc I am glad to get one that is beneficial to me.

Thanks for your explanation. I tune my bass to the chords of the trick but not the kick and snare. Live kicks and snare are done but that takes time. I get your point.
