Same issues. I tried USB stick and also USB cable to my MacBook Pro. Same issues. When I connect to laptop, I get the message: Cannot detect MPC, Plug power cable and try again. and USB stick message is: File is not recognized, try again. It takes me through all the steps but after I say yes to: Update MPC? It fails. I don't know what to do. Someone said make sure the img. is put in the root directory in USB stick? Can someone clarify how I do that? Thanks.

1. Just put the file on the USB KEY, don't put it inside any folder.
2. Eject the USB KEY from PC
3. Put the USB KEY into the USB A Port on the MPC One
4. Turn on the MPC One or if it's already on leave it on.
5. Press Shift and Menu button (Takes you to preference.)
6. Press the Shift button and click the Update tab on the screen
7. A pop up will say, firmware update detected do you want to update... etc etc
8. Install
9. Let it fully install and reboot (Don't turn it off or do anything.)
10. Once it reboots. Close the forums and MAKE MUSIC!

I have the exact same problem with 2.9. I cant update via USB-stick, SD card or via cable and the updater on Mac. Anyone managed to solve this? Very frustrating.

I have the same issue.
Do you guys have also the Q-Link side window that sometimes gets freeze?
I read here that the issue had something to do with the electricity (yeah, weird) and once they changed the electricity source it wasn't freezing.
I'm wondering if it has something to do with that.

I just bought a second hand mpc one and I am having the same issues as described above. Can't get the mpc one updated to 2.9! Tried all of the above but my PC won't find the mpc hardware, says power it on when it is, or via USB update it says file is corrupt or something. Please help, my £500 mpc is a brick!

USB update is not intended to be run on your computer (hence the corrupt message). Stick it on a USB disk, plug it into your MPC One USB port and enter update mode. Instructions here will work https://inmusicbrands.force.com/akaipro ... te-via-USB

What MPC-Tutor said above. Updating via a USB flash drive is really the best option. Pro tip: Akai tech support recommends you do NOT use an SD Card for this process:

No one comes back to say they got it working? I'm having the same issue going from 2.9 to 2.10. I get the same errors about plugging it in (MPC One can only run on a power cable, so the message is confusing, but figure the updater is universal and applies to the MPC's that can run on battery power) or try from a USB stick of which I've tried two different sticks, freshly formatted to both NTFS and ExFAT with the .img file in the root, and this is the only file on the USB stick. It will say I got the 2.10 update on the USB stick when I shift click update from the Info window, it'll start the update, shows the chip pic, and then immediately says it has a problem with the file and stops the update. Ideas? Anyone else have this issue and finally got it to work? What did you do?

I wrote in on Saturday for help. I'm assuming no support on the weekend. Hope to hear something soon. It's also nice when people post what fixed their issue too. :)

Finally got ahold of support. This is a known issue. Some MPC One's cannot enter into update mode. Only solution is to send it in for repairs. :( So I'm forever stuck at 2.9.

You need to ask them, is it a software problem or a hardware issue? If it's a software issue then AKAI needs to make an image disk of the MPC OS available for download so people can transfer it to the MPC One's internal flash ROM. If it's a hardware issue then it's a hidden defect and AKAI needs to pay for the repairs. The One isn't 2 years old, surely none of them out there are out of warranty yet.

Hey guys, I just bought an MPC One and was having the same issues updating to 2.10. I was eventually able to update using a Flash drive. The first flash drive I used wasn't recognized by the MPC, but the second one I tried did. It was a different brand than the first. The one that worked was a ScanDisk flash drive.

I hope this helps.
