Downgrading to 2.7

When l got rid if the mpc 2000XL in 2012 the Ren came, l almost got it but my boy already had it and it was glitchy as F***! I didn't like the software either and still don't. I got the LPD8 with Reason and been rockin ever since. I don't trust Akai now like l did when l had the 2000XL.

Since 2.9 has came all you see now is Threads popping up about 2.9 not working right.

Just ranting...On a positive note, I do like the direction these machines are generally heading, and I’m looking forward to 3.0 and all of the workflow improvements that’ll hopefully come along with it. Just gotta work with what you got!

Installed 2.9 on to the MPC One and the MPC 2.9 Software update. Works fine:

I’m with you. Still on 2.7.1, and not upgrading unless I hear of a bug free firmware. Some people say they can’t even save their projects now. What good are all these add-ons, if you can’t save the projects? I just want to make music. I don’t need every new little feature that people can come up with. Just make the shit work properly. That’s what matters most.

If you down grade and it's better for you, then do your thang. Also every upgrade yall should save each upgrade just in case you have to roll back. It's a shame yall have to do that.

It's Machine error vs User error. If it was rampant then most of us would experience the same issues, considering we're all using the X, Live, or One.

^^ This is what I always wonder if is the case.

For me, it's not so much the bugs. I'm actually not convinced there are a LOT of deal-breaker bugs. I do run into some things that are bugs, but it never stopped me from doing what I wanted to do. For me, it's the annoyance of half-baked features that seem like they could have been done MUCH better with a little more forethought and design.

How people use it drives the perspective though - some people are 2-4 bar sequences of kick, snare, hi-hat, sample - and I'm not belittling that - some of y'all are NICE with your skills. For them, this MPC is perfect. Others are EDM-focused... For the last 10 or so updates, Akai has made the MPC into a perfect tool for you - synths, clips, XY effects. For me, I used the MPC to produce songs - half live instrumentation, half samples, song structures, time signatures, etc. And for this approach there are a few things that are broken - and they're not getting fixed. For me Logic 10.5 rendered my MPC Live obsolete. It's now in a box waiting for 3.0 to see if I'll sell it or not (which might not be a good idea because that battery is aging LOL).

When you look at the people that are the face of Akai and the MPC now, the music they make, it's not difficult to see why the direction has been what it has over the past 10 or so updates. It's been molded into an EDM tool - hence why I call it the ED-MPC now. And I'm not mad at that. I just don't like the half-baked features and annoyance bugs that need attention.

Thats true, but its pretty clear that 2.6 & 2.7 were way more solid than 2.8 & 2.9...

I wonder if updating incrementally (.4, .5, .6, etc) is better than jumping a few updates... Enoch, youve done every update in order with no problems, correct?
