NO MORE METRONOMEwith OS's 1.6 or 1.7

I have tried everything with my MPC4000 that I could think of....When I load O.S. 1.6 or 1.7 the metronome stops working...in 1.7 when I try and load samples it freezes the MPC4000 up. I can only run 1.45 without problems..Has anybody had this problem? I also reinstalled all the os's from the very beginning hoping that might help..all is fine until i get to 1.6

any suggestions?

If you have two DIMMS of memory installed, it might be a memory defect in your second DIMM. With OS 1.6 AKAI changed the way memory is addressed to be able to add the audition from disk feature...

In OS 1.45/1.51, if you load the memory to it's maximum capacity there should happen the same thing. You should check that first.

If you feel confident enough to open up the MPC yourself try to take out your second DIMM. That's the right one. If the problems are resolved you know that this was the problem.

Thank You 2 for helping..I had reseated the memory several times and nothing happened..but when I removed it all works fine..now do I need another memory module or is the whole dimm slot bad? any ideas where to get ram from?

you probably just need a different ram piece.

is your 4k new?
