Hello everyone,

New MPC X user here, I am trying to finish up a track with Track mutes and recording midi automation from my hardware synths (cutoff, etc) in the same take, but to my surprise, the overdubbing of midi CC turns off the second I go into the Track mute screen. Seems to ignore the mii tracks I had armed before going into track mutes.
I would have thought that a simple thing such as this is possible :WTF: - overdub, record mutes and midi cc at the same time to finish up a track.

Am I missing something, anyone know if there’s a workaround for this ?

Thanks !

Sorry not sure of fully understanding :

- You drive your hardware synths from a sequence in the mpc, using several "MIDI out" programs , each with a port and channel assigned to each specific synth .

Do you record Midi CC for cutoff etc.. directly with the mpc Q links or automation tools ( grid and step sequence edit ) ? or directly from the hardware synth with a MIDI IN/OUT config (as some of my synths can do ) ?

Are you sure you started a automation writing on the MPC (upper right corner "write/read" icon ) , AND overdub button on your sequence ? I had some issues sometimes that could be solved only by having "Overdub" and "Automation write" together . Usually i can record every CC from my external synths to the MPC and get them played back on the synths.

otherwise could be a workaround with assigning track mutes to external controller or Qlinks banks, so that you don't have to go on the "Track mute" page that seems to stop writing automations :( Or record Mutes then automations ?

Exactly, I have the Mpc as the center piece sending/receiving Midi notes/CC to the external gear. Recording CC in overdub works fine, but seems to stop recording when I go into Track Mute.

Good idea assigning mutes to the Qlinks and recording that as automation! That should work, thanks!

Still wish Track mutes + Overdub CC would work, seems like a no breainer

Cheers !! I will check next time if i can do it from my set up, maybe it's some kind of conflict with midi ports, if you are , for example, with one external synth with "Master" activated in the MIDI prefs, it should be prioritary and always driving the active track... So why not reset other CC recordings when in track mute page ? .. If you have time you can also experiment with the "record track mutes events" setting in preferences, and check that every Midi in signal from your mpc is routed on a specific track and program to avoid conflicts that cold stop recording cc's ?

I'm having the same problem on an MPC One with OS 2.11.7.

Funny thing is the MPC still record midi notes but stops recording CCs when in track mute screen.

Does anyone have a solution for this ?
