New to Akai

Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

New to Akai

Machine user since the first one came out, moved to Japan, put my whole studio in storage, just ordered my MPC X, will be here in a few weeks, Questions

Both my MacBook Pro and iMac are both on Big Sur already, should I Just use standalone (in whatever software version it ships with) until Akai updates their software, or can I still update it to 2.8/2.9?

I hardly run in controller mode... but I have updated to Big Sur on my 2019 MacBook Pro.

I just updated to the 2.9.0.17 version of the software, installed the driver updates, and everything seems to be working fine. The software took over the display, moving controls on the MPC appears to effect the software, and it sees the audio/midi interfaces. I loaded up a couple of projects into the software off of the internal drive... all of that seems to work properly. The USB/SD/SSD all mount properly and I can see content. I know this is pretty shallow usage, but it looks fine to me at least on the x86 architecture.

EDIT: Not that it should make a difference, but I'm on the Live mk2 and the built in speakers work just fine as an OS X output for the MPC Software and I can select it as normal output for the laptop as well.

Everything is working in Big Sur even though Akai says it doesn't (Im actually shocked it all does).
So far the only thing Ive seen is the Network MIDI app no longer has an interface when the app opens. The window is totally blank. But its still seeing my MPC connected to ethernet and Logic can still send MIDI clock to the Network MIDI ports so its ALL working. The crappy MPC Software still runs fine, the drivers still mount the MPC to the desktop, the only thing I didn't check was whether controller mode still works but I hate the MPC software so I dont even bother with it.

Got My x two days ago, can confirm, 2.9 works, big sur etc.

The legacy expansions were already preloaded into MPC Software however, all the 'legacy expansions' resulted in "incompatible with this version of macOS"

Super happy everything works and as I have never "MPC'd" before, I working through the MPC Bible as we speak to learn and get used to the flow.
