Now that's what I'm talking about.

Eyalc wrote:2021 I'm releasing two projects. A soulful hip-hop album in the spring. And a soul album in the fall.

We need a releases sub-forum, where we talk about releases, process, mixing, mastering etc. A sub-forum for everyone on here serious about releasing music. There is an area for those getting started. Why not an area for those using the MPC to release music? And no, I'm not talking about the "listen to my music" sub-forum, or whatever it's called. I'm talking about a "professionals" section for real releases that have a barcode, associated with a PRO, are available on Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, Pandora, etc. Not just "beats" somebody made and posted to SoundCloud.

Yeah I said it... this forum needs a serious section. One that only people with a commercial release can post in. But like the participation generation, somebody would likely say "that's not fair, we should all be able to post in there!!!" LOL. But the value of this site would increase SO much if it had a section like that. As of late the value of the site has been dropping IMO, evidence by the beginner topics, sarcasm and arguing. Not knocking the beginner threads though - I think it's good that y'all have the confidence to ask your questions (even though most could be answered with a little self-pursuit).

Lack of a professional section is a reason why a lot of people I know don't visit here. And is honestly why I'm visiting less and less.

CR, sorry to derail if I have. Back on topic. Two releases in 2021. Coming for those indie music charts.

That's not a derail, those are FACTS! Posting a beat on sound cloud is not a release. I want to see covers, videos, music, photos, purchase links, physical copies.

Bezo wrote:I feel like you're talking to me. I was supposed to release an instrumental album this year. I BS-ed. I have the songs but haven't mixed a single thing.

I have a legit reason now as one of my monitors is shorting out. I'll be replacing it soon and will drop something in 2021. Thanks for the inspiration!

Swap that monitor or replace that cable and let's go! If you can't, mix that sucker with a mono speaker and some head phones. Let's Go Bezo!

Menco wrote:I released 4 beat tapes this year. Upgraded from just Soundcloud to Spotify and all the other regular streaming platforms. Releasing a monthly single (with none-sampled material) since a couple of months. Wanted to release a 5th tape end of December. But I allow myself to be lazy for once with legit excuses. At the end of December people are too busy celebrating the holidays. Plus I have to pull a few of my best beats for that tape cause they’ll go to a very promising young artist with major release potential.

So yeah, I agree with Eyalc. A professional release thread might be dope. I know there are some cats here with crazy talent!

Equipment wise, I’m going to get my MPC2500 serviced first thing in 2021. Also going to invest in a Tascam Model 12(mixer, digital recorder and daw controller in one package). Want to get more into hardware mixing. Plus since my post productions are getting more complex a good daw controller will definitely come in handy.

Get it in! Time to talk!

Yeah, I need to check the cable 1st. I assume it's the monitor because Arturia and Native Instruments both had synths with a bug that sent out a loud blip of audio when selecting them, and this seemed to coincide.

Just swap monitor cables and if that doesn't work, put on headphones and get busy! :smoker:

A track a day is practice, exercise, a warm up. I'm not hearing none of that from you.

Probably... though the more I'm putting down on the MPC the less I'm seeing the rest of the gear I have as integral. Focus, clarity, and samples. Might be all I need.

Oh, and to get down a consistent process... getting back into laying out tracks on the MPC through the sequencer... it's actually pretty decent, but the workflow could be a bit better.

At any rate... I'm pretty happy with about 25% of what I'm finishing so far... so I'll go back in January and clean some of these things up a bit and drop a proper MPC Live album.

I donno man, A lot of us have just been trying to SURVIVE in 2020, pretty sure making music is going to keep taking a backseat to that in 2021 for a lot of people...
