I have a SSD installed and only been using my MPC for around a month. Saved about 12 projects and downloaded a few expansion packs (3 i think) onto the SSD.
Tonight i saved a new project (nothing hectic). I can see it in Browser but when i power cycled the MPC its vanished. Lost hours of work and after subsequent tests i find i cant seem to save anything onto the SSD (the internal drive is full also).... I can however save to an SD card so to get me out of the immediate issues im going to have to buy a removable HDD....
I cant believe ive already busied out the SSD... Is this an MPC issue or possibly an issue with SSD's?
What do you think folks?

Are you running the latest firmware? It is beginning to sound as if it could be a bug that I have not yet hit. When more than one person reports the same thing, it does start sounding suspicious, and I would not be at all surprised if others start reporting here with that too. Hopefully, we can collectively come up with a picture of what is happening.

in the case of the mpc live/x, it is supposed to show an eject option because thats how the software is setup on the machine. so if you do not have an eject button you have an issue with your storage driver (something you cant remedy yourself) or some other issue thats hard to ascertain over the internet.

re-install the ssd/hdd
update your firmware if you have not already done so
return the machine for a warranty repair.

but bottom line: these units DO show the eject button by nature of the firmware.

Hi there. I'm new here but an old mpc head. I just got the new mpc x and its giving me the same problem "error saving mpc project" with the directory and file name listed below. It doesn't specify why its not saving it . I thought maybe the memory is full, but even if you pull up an old file and load it - it will load - but if you make a change and try to save it it won't do it anymore. I have an 32GB Card that I'm saving it to but I'm worried that the read/write function on the main drive is ****. Is there any chance to get AKAI in on this chat?

Are you all properly ejecting your media?

If no, possible corrupt media?

Experienced the same on my 6 weeks old mpc one!

Only fix / workaround for me:

Saving in external disk or memory card does not work if I create a folder (eg: “projects”) to save my projects in.

If I try saving on a memory card or USB drive it only works in main structure, without any folder created. Tried that with a formatted memory card as well as with a used one?

Also be sure to have at least enough free space to save your projects!

Maybe this helps you guys! Let me know.

This is very bad an I cannot see any official statement from Akai as of yet!

I have reported this bug last week to Akai but I haven´t got a reply yet.

I hope they are aware of this dealbreaking bug and fix it with the next patch.

Hi all,

New in the MPC world, I was facing with the same issue. On my side I was able to solve it by removing all special characters in the SD card name (mine was named with "MPC#256", that I switched with "MPC256"). It seems the OS doesn't like the "#" and maybe other special characters both in SD card names, and project names . Hope it can help you.

THX!
You made my day :-D
My SSD was called "MPC_SSD" - I renamed it into "MPCSSD" and everything is fine now!!!
