Input Levels: Hotter on the Right

Good morning all.

I noticed there was more level at the right output of the mpc one.
Starting with a mono sample, sampled on one of the two inputs, when it is played back, the mpc's meters indicate the same left / right level, but when it comes to Logic Audio there is more level on the right.

In addition when I send exactly the same signal (with test oscilator) on the left and right inputs of the mpc the vu meters of the mpc also indicates most signal on the right.

Obviously, I tried several outputs from the sound card and swapped the cables to make sure that the signal provided was equivalent on the left input and on the right input.

I tested another mpc one in store and also an mpc Live, same problem.

This is problematic because you have to make up for everything with the panoramic.

My Live's left output is a bit hotter. I compensated with my interface inputs long ago and forgot to check the cables. Your experience tells me it's not the cables. Thanks for the reminder, not that my Live is under warranty.

Had this problem with a MPC 5000.Had to sell it cheaper because i was upfront about it.Bit annoying.

Hello and thank you for your answers, I am back from the store where I bought the mpc. They changed my machine and I just ran the same test again:

I'm sending exactly the same signal to the left input and the right input of the mpc and it's the same problem but less.

In fact it depends on the position of the input gain potentiometer of the mpc, when it is at 100% I have the same right-left signal, when it is at 60% too, otherwise I always have more signal on the right channel.

Regarding the output of the mpc it is a little better, around 40% gain the signal is balanced, if not a little more signal to the right.

Apparently it's the same problem on all of them, I wanted to be sure.

It's okay, I'll calibrate with my mixer or with plug-ins.

Aside from that and the fact that there is no digital input / output, the Mpc One is a fabulous machine, it's my third mpc after the 60 and the 2000 ...

When your meters on MPC are even (L+R are even gain) but your DAW says otherwise, then then problem lies between the 2. So check mixer (if you use one) check cables, (double) check software, input gain knobs etc etc. Its not your MPC.

Yeah, that's a funny thing.

This is what happens: in the mpc the output meter clearly indicates the same left / right signal and indeed there is the same L / R gain, but we are still in the digital part of the MPC, this signal ( digital) is then sent to the physical output of the MPC: two converters (DAC) then two amplifiers at line level, this is the analog part and this is where the problem lies, we say that they are “no paired ”.

And done, there is a very simple test to do: reverse the L / R cables at the output of the MPC, if the problem is reversed in Logic Audio then there is a difference at the output of the MPC, if the problem is not reversed then the problem comes from the sound card or Logic or cables etc ...

Having exactly the same signal twice is theoretically impossible in the analog domain because two electronic components never have exactly the same characteristics: two resistors of the same value will not have exactly the same resistance.
This is why in high-end material the components are sorted.
But these are tiny differences, here the problem is big.
