midi question

I think I know the answer to this but since the xl is called the midi production center I wanna does the 2000xl record actual midi sound or does it just record the notes

It records information when it comes to midi

Midi is not sound FULL STOP!

Try it for yourself. Record some midinotes on an empty track, then take a midicable and plug it into the midi-out A of your mpc. Plug the other end into your ear. Make sure it's in all the way. Now press play on the mpc.
