I WOULD THINK THERE ARE PLENTY OF HIGHLY SKILLED ARTISTS OUT THERE WILLING TO OFFER 1 ON 1 TRAINING AS AN ALTERNATE OPTION TO THE TUTORIAL VIDEOS... LOCATING A TRAINER TO COMPENSATED FOR THEIR TIME AND FOR THE COUNTLESS HOURS THEY'VE INVESTED IN AKAI SHOULD MUCH EASIER TO FIND......
i'M NOT THE ONLY ONE LOOKING...

I finished writing my first album...and Ive decided on my rig...
Currently sportin:
Ableton Live...as the master of ceremonies (more now, less as i build on my Akai knowledge)
MPC LIVE (v1) ... an extremely poowerful sampler (I'll put it to good use in the near future)
BOSS RC-505 ... for looping and layering dynamics
along with a MIDI
MK3-49 or Komplete A49 (haven't decided yet...any thoughts on the 2? intigration is solid w/ both right?)
a Mexi TELE
a TAYLOR
a 5 STRING SCHECTER

Take some time digging through the forums, listen to what others are posting... see what styles you like or where you want to push yourself. I am sure a private message to find a mentor to a few folks will be responded to... first get laser focused on what you are looking for and want to work on... you've got a *lot* of ground to cover in your post and some things will be easy to explain for some... and other things they might be completely clueless.

See what you can do with the Mpc Bible advertised on the top of this page. If you want tutoring hit up tube digga. Watch a few of his tutorials first to get a feel for him.

You can save yourself a lot of money and time by starting with the legwork yourself with the Bible. It’s pretty much idiot proof and even for someone nonprofessional and using mpcs for like 15 years still very comprehensive covering things I have always over looked.

You’ll be surprised how easy it is when it “clicks” for ya. There’s also this very forum your posting on if you have any questions.

MPC-wizard, i like the sound of that. I consider myself more as an mpc-forum-asshole though. That said: the biggest tip is not getting somebody to teach you, but just to start working with the MPC and challenge yourself getting to know the machine. Read the manual, third party bibles (like from the undisputed mpc-tutor), check youtube (there a thousands of mpc tutorials!) and re-search the forum.

Although the best method to „see it all“ is to take the device / software and the manual and work through it at least once. Akai‘s manuals aren‘t that bad.

I have never owned a MPC product and just bought my first 2 weeks ago. Youtube helped a lot but fishing a couple of song on the MPCX helped more. Took me about 3 days of trial and error and watching Youtube video to be able to create a song. I have not downloaded any mpc manuals nor have I read them.

Once you try to create a song by going through the complete workflow; input selection, midi controller, pattern, mutting tracks, patterns, mixing, effects, event edit, etc...re-watching tutorial video on youtube will make a lot more sense after you try to create a finish song.

Having a one on one tutor will help, but only after you have attempted to finish a song. Otherwise, you will not be able to absorb the information and put it to use.

+1 that's why I figured it's also good to look around at what others are doing... no sense finding a mentor/tutor who has a style you could care less about... unless you're looking to push yourself into things you're not comfortable doing.
