Who do we trust? Speakers or Headphones?

and even then .....when u can try to play Ur material on BoomBoxes or Car Stereo Systems.....................

the only time i use my headphones is when im sampling, i monitor on my mpc with some decent AKG headphones so i get a clear loud view of the sample, and levels etc...

other than that my event monitors are way more accurate and have better balance

K240's I presume? I got a pair from a friend and man they are nice, you gotta drive them hard though.

It's good to test your sound in everything. I even pull up some cheap $5 heads. When you have to chose between the two I say choose monitors.

WHatever has better dynamic range WITHOUT coloring the sound...but you should try to listen to what your consumer will be listening to after you final mixdown and before distributing to get an idea of how it will sound to people not using pro level gear.

Your best bet is to keep up with your UV meters if you got any, Am always told its not a good idea to have the levels too high, its better on your ears and they can interpret sound better.

Headphones don't give good low end or stereo separation (ie panning). Good speakers can, but good speakers cost $$$. The best advice is to REFERENCE your mix on as many speakers as possible. I have mixed everything from hip hop to rock to jazz in a studio with big money speakers, but I always have to reference my mix on an old consumer boom box. Do some research on Yamaha NS-10 and Quincy Jones. That should answer the question for you.
