Speed loss putting an SSD into a USB 3.0 enclosure?

Hello,

I currently have a 1 Tb Samsung 860 EVO plugged via SATA in my MPC Live. I would like to put it into an hard drive enclosure (such as: https://www.cdiscount.com/informatique/ ... #mpos=0|mp ) which will be plugged in one of the USB 3.0 ports of the MPC Live (or in my computer).

I wonder if I will lose some reading/writing speed doing that?

Thanks, but I guess there may be some suprises. For example, the SATA 3 speed inside the MPC is may be restricted, or the USB 3 port.

I thought it was said somewhere that the internal sata connector is running USB 2.0 bus speeds due to a USB 2.0 bridge. Or something like that.

The MPC doesn't actually have an SATA interface to begin with. Its SATA to USB inside running on the same bus the external ports do (which is why your drive mounts like it does on your desktop). Your drive isn't going to go any faster or slower than it would internally. Its USB 3 all the way through. This thing would be painfully slow if it were a USB 2.0 setup and the external ports wouldn't be blue either.

Yes, you will lose some. But will you actually notice it, in the context of what you do on the MPC Live? Highly doubtful. That said, let us know how it works out for you.

Juste a message to say that I can't notice a speed difference between the SATA connection and the USB connection via the adapter. All works fine, as before.
