My top left pad came off on the 60, my cat was walking on it, as I picked him up, the pad came off. I couldn't believe my eyes. Man, right in the middle of a beat none the less.
Anyway, should I glue it back on. call FORAT?
I never really use all the pads anyways, but thats besides the point, I want my sh*t clean.

Man, I need some dem tweeds

vst is in LA right?

so this , I take it, isn't that big of deal?

By elmacaco Tue Feb 01, 2005 7:43 am
Not at all, the pads are all together, and the replacement costs $25, you could probably take it to VST (in Pasadena) and they will replace it quickly, and probably cheaply.

Why do you let your cats walk on your gear?!!

When you said unthinkable, I thought it was gonna be worse like the whole contents of a 40oz into the vents while it was on or some shyt.

Don't sweat it andreas, no biggie.

Cool, Im glad to hear that from you. My cat goes on the window, and my 60 is near the window, I dunno what happened, I think he slipped and grabbed the pad and when I picked him up, he held onto the pad. Anyway, cool, I'll go down there on thursday and hopefully get it done on the spot.
Ya, I actually had that happened lots of times where beer was spilled on my 1200's, like at party's n sh*t.

Thanks again man!!! By the way, I've been f*ckin with the w-30 alot, do you think VST can hook me up on a new screen, the w-30's screen is getting really bad

The backlight or the Characters themselves?

yeah, they can probably fix it.

THE CHARACTERS are cool, its just on the "dim" side, readable but ...

Me I would punish the cat by making him hold a light over the W-30 :)
Nah, probably wouldn't make any sense to the cat, since cats see well in the dark anyway.
Seriously, if you are going to allow the cat that window move your gear so that it's not part of the path.

If the cat was able to pull it off, then I suspect it was about to fall out on it's own soon anyway. The frequently used pads end up splitting off where the metal edge is and is not that uncommon.

The mistake I see most often in repairs is that fools, err people, try to glue it back on. The glue ruins the sensor pad underneath the pads and it ends up being a $250 repair instead of a $25 repair.

Just got back from VST, I had them install black pad(s), the total was like $60. My old grey pad is all cruddy, I think I am putting to much blame on shadow(my cat), it was going to tear off eventually anyways. I like to do my thing by the window, and it just so happens that yes, the 60 is in the path of the window. Infact he sleeps on the 60, with a towel covering the 60 ofcourse. He also sleeps on the turntables but what am I gonna do.
Infact when I was recording a beat, he actually walk on the 60 and hit a snare that I ended up keeping.
Anyway, the black Pads look dope

Ha, customizing your shit already!

What about the W30? They say something about that?

Last I checked Telesis had the best deal for repairing backlighting.

While we are talking parts, where's the best shot at a replacement knob for the MPC60's data knob?
It's still there but the grey cap is gone?
Thanks
