Expansion Packs

I recently brought an Expansion Pack (Nuskillz) from the Akai Pro website...The only problem is: Whenever I try to install it on my MPC one, I get this message on my computer: Do you want to allow an Unknown Publisher to make changes on your computer....What do I do....? Do I allow it or wait for the Publisher to become Certified...?

Allow it. Is this your first expansion purchase? What pc/Mac are you using?

When you buy the expansions you are installing to your computer first. Then you have to export it to your sd card, user internal SSD/HDD or usb stick, to use in your MPC.

Sounds like Akai haven't signed the installer correctly. On a Mac you can bypass this by right clicking the installer and selecting 'Open'.

Do I allow the Unknown Publisher to make changes on my computer....? What if it harms my computer...? I know how to install expansion packs....But it threw me for a loop when I saw the Unknown Publisher message.....Is it possible that Akai hasn't updated its Certifications....?

Yes it's very possible, the Nuskilz pack is pretty old. Apple explain more here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/m ... h40616/mac

You can of course install the expansion manually by extracting the payload from the installer. These expansion installers really don't do much other than copy the expansion (plus XML file & image) to the relevant folders in Library > Application Support > Akai > MPC.

Dear MPC Tutor....After reading the Apple support article....It kinda confirmed my suspicion that the Expansion pack "Nuskillz" may contain Malware....or harm my computer....I am using a Windows based computer....This is definitely a setback....Brand new MPC One but can't obtain legitimate sounds or Expansion Packs....smh....

You can buy expansions from us, we don't use Windows installers, you can just install the expansion directly to your MPC One SD card or USB drive. Here's our full range of expansions:

I know you being cautious and rightfully so.. but I purchased Nuskillz and installed it fine on Mac (Catalina), windows 10, Live mk1, and force.

I purchased a few keygroup expansions. Installation was no problem, but accessing my Expansion Purchases account after the fact is.

I enter my email address to get the access account email. But when I click the link in that email, it takes me back to the page to enter my email again.

Anyone experience this?

Dear MPC Tutor.....I actually downloaded and installed the free expansions at the MPC Samples website last night.....Without any hassles....Which was a relief....In the Future I will just purchase Expansions and Instruments and samples from the MPC Samples website....What a Great Service.....!

AKAI MPC expansions are a mess. At first you need a second account beside your AKAIPRO MPC account. Then the expansions can´t bei installed correctly on your device w/o the MPC software (I can access them on my Live but they aren´t visible under expansions).
Beside that I find all expansions (I own three of them) too much processed so they are hard to integrate into my mixes (potentially i`m too stupid for that). I prefer the NI expansions for maschine.
