Anyone use one of these - the Syjet.

Yo i just picked one of these joints up with five new blank 1.5GB discs, for $35 - wondering if theyre reliable. If so, this means NO more switching zips - which has been seriosly cramping my beats. Whats the verdict?

Be careful.
Syquest the corporation is history. I'm not sure who deals with their service issues. If you keep it, get lots of disks and backup things to 2 or 3 disks.

Iomega bought them out and liquidated the company. It's a shame since their products were many times more reliable than Iomega's. Iomega just had a better marketing dept.

I have the 1.5gig myself. Except for the noise, it works well. Sounds like a jet airplane taking off in the studio. I never use it anymore since I can just use 1Gig CF cards for about $60.

Oh shit, my Mac is already loud enough...good to hear they are reliable though.

1 Gig Cf cards? You mean for the MPC1000 correct?

yeah...maybe I need one of these. I HATE my Iomega zip..that sh#t never eva saves sounds and sequences correctly. NEVER. I don't even save beats anymore, I just complete um and record them into the DPS12 or the ole computer. I looking for a healthy option..perhaps a hardrive for my 3000 or some reliable zip. (if they make those..)

word...I'm trying to do that but it just ain't hapnin. In fact, let me not speak on this until I get home later this evening. I'm gonna power up the MP, slip my zip disk in that is titled "Alota Drums, Kicks, and Snares" ( Made it myself and converted it in MPC Editor) and then I'm gonna type word for word the error message I get when I try to load the programs. Of course I can scroll through the 100 or so hats, snares, kicks, and other stuff, but I specifically made the programs so I wouldn't have to do this. But of course it never works and I'm past the point of frustration.

I use both SyJet 1,5GB / SYQUEST 105MB. Compare to the Iomega Zip I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM loading back my prog/samplz...
can't say the same with the Iomega joint. Plus, I never had no CRASH when saving snd/Pgm with the SyJet/Quest when I've to be carefull with ZIP250/100...
