Best way to render pad VST effects?

Hi folks,

First day here with my new MPC X (first time i ever had any MPC!).

Quick question: I'm using the X in controller mode, and i've used a VST effect as a pad insert.

But obviously when i go back into standalone mode that VST effect won't be available.

So could anyone tell me, what's the best workflow to render just this one pad with the VST effect?

Do i need to solo that pad, then render the whole track?

Or can i render the sample with the effect and then bring that sample onto a pad?

Actually i have no actual clue haha!

Any tips or tricks greatly appreciated!

Actually you do actually have an actual clue.

But obviously when i go back into standalone mode that VST effect won't be available.
the VST lives inside the computer, all the "realness" lives in the computer. The vst itself will never be loaded into the hardware. You can record the audio then take that audio to the hardware and load it in.

What about Flattening the Pad. Not sure but that may work

But one thing i don't understand:

Where is the sample saved?

Is it just held in memory? And only saved if i save the project?

If so, where do i look on my hard disks (i have an exta 250gig disk installed) to actually see the sample is saved to disk?

ONce Its in Memory, you can save the Sample to a Destination of your Choice, recommend on your own SD Card/USB/Internal HDD/SSD. Otherwise it'll wrapped up in a Project File

OK! So you mean if i make a song and flatten lots of samples, i don't have easy access to those sounds for other projects? I need to manually save each sample i want as an actual discrete WAV file on disk?

Correct....if you want easy access to samples you've created in a song, Make sure you save them somewhere you can easily find them
