MPC One 2.9.1 “LOAD ALL” only load single samples?

Hey all,

Trying to follow along the MPC Bible and I noticed that the “LOAD ALL” option in the browser only seems to load the sample that’s currently highlighted. Figured this was a fluke earlier but now I’ve reproduced it numerous times so I’m wondering if this is widespread or just somehow affecting my system.

My scenario: Following MPC Bible chapter 10, trying to load all samples in the “Piano Sounds” folder on a USB stick. Hold down SHIFT and the LOAD ALL option (previously LOAD), however in the end the only sample that gets pulled in is “piano-C1.wav”.

Curious whether anyone can confirm this behaviour? If so, is there a way to report bugs to Akai? ... despite how futile it might be

Go back to the Piano Sound Folder, press shift and load all. That will load all the sounds in that Piano sound folder. You owe me some of those patches and a sample set.

Sorry but I’m pretty sure that’s what I did, even ended up taking a video because I was sure I was going crazy xD

Patches just came in the mail today, they’ve got a date with my backpack, sorry — I can offer you some of the hand sanitizer maybe?

Highlight the folder with the cursor, but don't go into the folder. Press shift and Load All. It will load all everything in that folder. Now send me the backpack and the patches. Keep the sanitizer!

Oh are you serious? That’s the least intuitive way Akai could have done this — I don’t even blame myself for being confused, it’s that bad XD


OK OK backpack is on it’s way, I’ll just pack the MPC in there since it’s clearly too advanced for me

As if you need more patches Charles... but you definitely should get more hand sanitizer.

I get why you think it is unintuitive... but that's how the MPCs have been working for years... decades even...

OK OK backpack is on it’s way, I’ll just pack the MPC in there since it’s clearly too advanced for me

I agree... but once you get used to it, it's not so bad. Just don't accidentally press delete file.

Good point! This is where being new to MPC is a disadvantage, I definitely don’t have the muscle memory from the MPC OS of old!

The fact that these machines do not have a batch normalize is odd. But hey it's much more fun to go to each sample and normalize all 40 sounds, one at a time. P.S. Hand sanitizer is bad for the skin. Patches are great for the my Jean Jacket.

Don't worry... they changed enough over the years that plenty of things are not exactly intuitive to those of us who've been on them for a long time too

So it's kind of an unfair statement I made... still... you've got what is probably one of the most streamlined and simplified MPCs to use... and it has enough FX, polyphony, and ram to take you to the moon if you wanted to. You'll hear some of us belly ache for "the good old days" from time to time, but honestly... there's a lot to like with what Akai has done with this iteration even if there are some devout haters

It’s all good, I am absolutely in love with the One so far — I thought I’d want an X with bigger pads and more Q’s but the compact nature of this little beast makes it so much fun to just sit down in front of and donk around with. More Q’s might be nice if I start to use more synth stuff but I think I’ll be just fine
