MPC data from disk to ZIP?

Does anybody know a program that can write MPC data from floppy disks to an MPC ZIP image, so it can be used after replacing the disk drive by a ZIP drive?

Consider that MPC data on ZIP can only be stored in an image file, made with disk2file, an image maker program.

Nothing I know of.

You can read the MPC floppies using your computer but it will destroy any names longer than 8 characters. you can fix this later by re-creating the program on the MPC or beforehand by not using names longer than 8 characters.

i got no names longer than 8 characters, so this is no problem.

This does not affect the XL model. As for the MPC2000 and MPC3000 this issue only concerns MPC formatted production Zip disks. You would actually use an extra PC formatted `transfer Zip disk` to move from PC to MPC and then save to MPC formatted disk that does not go near the PC.

The software for floppy to zip transferring? I do not think it is needed. I could write such software, but are you willing to buy it?

I snatched out my floppy and replaced it with a 250 zip. My computer was able to read floppy and now it can read the zip all just fine with windows explorer. File names will be truncated to no longer than 8 characters though. No disk image is neccesary, just format your floppys or zip in windows and the mpc can read it as PC. Good luck man. Some zip disks though will not be readable on both machines. A sure bet is to cop only Fuji zip disks, IOMEGA zip disks are finicky..

tell me, what is it like to work with an internal zip:
- do write/read errors occur?
- how much faster is it compared to floppy?

u know, im also thinking about buying scuzzy things, zip or hd.
what do you think?
