MPC LIVE 2 and Korg Electribe 2

Hi everyone,

I did try to control my Electribe with my MPC live and more or less it worked, but there were some issues. When I send the audio form the electribe to the MPC and played play on the electribe to start a pattern, certain sound wouldn't play back (Kick drum -channel 9; and Bass -channel 3). With the pattern still playing, if a disconnected the audio cable from the mpc and connected to an external speaker the full pattern would play.

Does anyone have an idea of what might be going on?

It sounds like a panning issue.. are the bass and kick center panned? Which outputs on the e2, and inputs on the mpc are you using?

Yes, they are dead center, and I'm using a Stereo Jack to Dual Mono from the left and right audio outputs of the electribe to the L input of the mpc.

Sounds like you're hitting a Phase Cancellation issue.

You want to make sure you get either the Electribe L to the MPC L and the Electribe R to the MPC R without the other signal bleeding over.

Not sure which cable you are using, but I'd suggest using a TR cable for both your L and R connections.

Yes, it sounds like because the stereo signal is getting summed to mono, certain elements are getting phase cancelled. Like neartao said try using seperate ts mono cables. You could also reverse your current cable and go from the e2 headphone out(stereo) to input 1&2 on mpc. I think that would work, too. But you will need an adapter to convert 1/4 to 1/8" for the e2 headphone out.

Phase cancellation and comb filtering

Phase cancellation - When two 100% identical audio signais of opposite phose are merged, the result is complete silence Comb filtering - Summing two identical audio signals with one slighty delayed, makes the sound hollow, thin and glassy. You need to be careful of phase cancellation and comb fitering when summing a stereo signal preset to mono, it it contains effecti which invert phase or shift time alignment.
