Advice on Sound Module Please...

I want to build a small rack but need suggestions on a RELIABLE & VERSATILE sound module. I am making progressive hip hop/pop/jazz & r&b. Any help is appreciated.

Can't go wrong with a yamaha tx81z ($40) or a similar dx synth. They are a **** to edit- but the DX series has extreme value

i just got a roland jv-880 is that a good module ?do you guys think it will werk ok with my mpc2000xl? let me know thanks akai!
