Got me a Triton Extreme and am thinking I should have bought a Motif. Anyone using either one of these and can list there thoughts. The Triton sounds a little weak to me. Some of my sample CD's blow it away. The Motifs organs are sounding sick. Maybe I should get the Motif Rack. Anyone who is using this gear - please share some knowlege/insight on all of this. MOTIF vs. TRITON. Also, what sound modules are ya'll using? Proteus... Thanks to all who take the time to respond. Loving my MPC 1000 though. SICK!!!

Ultimately though, they're pretty much the same. The presets in all synths are just a start. Each of those synths (Triton & Motif) can be tweaked far beyond what's there in the presets. You've gotta ask yourself, if you feel up to the tweaking.

Word.cat's have to know purpose of a SYNTH, behind presets...

It depend on what kind of music you're about...

Motif's "natural" sounds (guit. percs...) sound more "real" IMO.

I copped the Fantom XR - I really wish I would have copped the Motif ES>
I just brought the Alesis Ion.
To me the Motif Es has the best built in sounds.
It's definitely next on my list.

I got the motif ES rack last week. Triggering it with my micron, sequencing it on my mpc2000 non xl. The motif sounds so much more real. I got a deal on the ES so I copped it, I was mos def gonna get the old motif rack for 799 but I was able to get the ES rack for 1000 plus tax so for the 175mb of sounds I thought it was worth the extra cheddah.

my thoughts on this; the Triton is a nice board but it is getting a little long in the tooth. the sounds are on every record and it's starting to sound a little dated. of course it is still a very powerful sampler and synth and the right person can really make it sing till the end of time. right out of the box though, the ES burns it. a lot of people are blown away by the Triton in the store playing with the presets. but once you realize that all those sounds are maxed out on effects and polyphony you realize that the Motif has way more strength. listen to the Triton sounds dry with no fx, not as impressive. the Motif ES on the other hand is just INSANE. those mega voices an super realistic arpeggios are unbelievable. if you need a big fat pile of good tones i'd say grab the Motif ES Rack and a nice hammer weighted MIDI keyboard. and you'll still have hundreds left over for more toys. the Motif ES Rack is $1000. the M-Audio Keystation 88 is $499, which makes a real nice MIDI controller with all its sliders and knobs etc. you've already got a great sequencer and sampler, the MPC. no need to double up by getting a Triton. that's just my 2 cents.

this is the future of synthesis. Totally integrated it hooks up to your pc and can be used as a VST plug in, meaning that when you save a song in your sequencer, all the settings are saved and no longer any need for program changes or SYSEX dumps it's total recall baby... You can also use it's inputs and outputs for other vst instruments with near 0 latency. Your sounds can also be processed on your sequencers audio tracks with plugins without the need to record the audio
into the sequencer. it has a reverb and delay fx per midi track meaning 16 reverb and delays (fcucking fat) and finally all sounds saved in a multi are saved on a seperate memory meaning you never overwrite a sound when you use it in more than one song... that's just a little simplified overview of the specs but mine is coming on the 14th of february...

nutting pers.... but I could say, listen to some Motif's keys or pipe without fx, them flat too!!! Arppegiators? Once again you're listen to PRESETS.
Try to rec your own arppegios...not so "easy"!

In order to compare Triton/Motif, I should look at the polyphonie voices, which got the more filterz, the easier when tweaking sound, ect, ect...
Outta dat you're talking 'bout Triton's & Motif's presets (that's what you ear or listen to when ya at the shop)!!!

yeah like books dont judge synths by there presets....anyone who will spend that much moeny on something they aren't considering programming needs their heads checking!!
