I wanted to record videos for Instagram of me playing some of my beats so I could document my progress in a way. I have a Samsung a20s smartphone (android). I have a 1/4 Y split cable connected to my MPC Lives balanced outputs into my phone but no audio is being picked up. Does anyone know how I can record audio from my MPC live into my phone for videos?
What Android app are you using to record? The stock camera video recorder? The 3.5mm audio jack on the Samsung a20s is a bog standard 3.5mm TRS headphone out with
mono mic input - you need a Y-split cable that has a 3rd ring for the mic input. You can also pick up something like a IK Multimedia IRIG-2 (though again, that mic input is MONO).
Not sure if there is a stereo line input option for the Samsung a20s.
Personally, I'd just use your stock camera app to record without any wires or mic hooked up (just record the ambient audio), and hook your MPC Live up to a Zoom recorder or use your computer and your DAW to capture the same audio at the same time as a high-quality audio performance. Then you can switch your audio track in the video file out with the high quality performance in your video editing software.
