Did you install via computer or did you put the update on USB KEY or SD Card and do it from there? I would suggest go to your Akai Pro page, download the MPC 2.9 FIRMWARE UPDATER (USB) put it on USB KEY or SD Card and update it again. The Serial number should match the number on your Akai Account.

It's a great machine for what I've seen and heard, have it for a month now but didn't really use it other than checking some demo projects that came with it. Coming from a MPC4K, I can say the sound coming out of it is prestine quality! I love the fact that I can just take it anywhere along with my battery operated gear and make beats on my flights and in hotels!

What I really DON'T like though, is the messages I find online from people having problems that shouldn't occur. (not gonna list 'em, the ones that wanna know, know.)

Problems are inevitable, but when it's true what people said, AKAI should worry about their SUPPORT quality. Right now, it's non-existend! I mean, I'm just a casual user, but if I would be earning my money with this shit, AKAI would never be in my toolbox because of this.

But let's be honest, a drum synth in the box is hella sexy.

Id do what Charles said and grab the USB updater and reflash it. You might be waiting awhile on Akai as its a long holiday weekend, they laid off a shitload of staff when the Black Plague hit, and their customer service folks didn't work on the weekends even before that.

Thats an MPC One? On my Live, Control Surface is v1.11.

On my current MPC X (and the original one that was sent back for warranty replacement back in February/March) through all the firmware updates, Control Surface has always been v. 0.50.

And I think I might’ve had that “Invalid Serial Number” once back on my original MPC X after trying the full factory restore via SD Card from the 9 GB file sent by Akai Support. After purchasing a 64 GB USB flash drive and retrying the full restore it showed my serial number again.

Is your MPC ONE registered with Akai Pro account?

Yes, everything is registered. Air Plugins, MPC Software. iLock installed and active on my mac. Upgrading MPC Software to 2.9 on macOS was also passed without problems with key.

I have not registered my One yet and using a different iLock serial I bought on eBay before buying One.
My serial is displayed , I guess it doesn't have to do with registration.
PS. I updated to 2.9 using PC
