Is my MPC one broken? Pads light up but don't work [MPC One]

You'd have to describe exactly and in detail.

The default demo's midi tracks usually have Bank A's pads assigned for pad color and samples.
You should be hearing sound and seeing colors bounce around right out the box and/or after a hardware reset.

Outputs assigned? Mixer levels. Track view levels? Is there a q-link or preferences setting that is stopping your audio? I feel like you could be checking on things that could be checked on other screens. Is pad perform on, I think someone mentioned that before as a problem but I fail to remember exactly and in detail.

I also think after a hardware reset and loading a demo you should IMMEDIATELY hear sounds.

You've had a lot of sugar and coffee, lol, I was trying to get a good look at all the screens as you flew through.

I like that skin on there, nice clean look.

Yeah - your hardware is defective, and you should send that s hit back stat. Short of reinstalling the Factory Content image file (something not possible without the assistance of Akai tech support and a request), your hardware is definitely having a problem. Loading a demo project should immediately generate sound when you strike those pads - no adjusting anything needed (aside from cranking your volume up).

What's your return window with that retailer? If you have time to submit an actual tech support request through Akai and see if they'll send you the Factory Content Image restoration file**, I'd send it back before you miss your refund window.

** As a side note, users who delete Factory Content often cause the hardware to act buggy, so that is definitely a possibility since it was obviously a return.

I did a factory reset only after catching that something was wrong with the pads so it was like that already. I've done electronics repair before and a ribbon cable is potentially pretty simple but the rotary encoder is not working either so that's kinda bad. I'm probably just going to return, pay the extra 100 and get a brand new one. I only received it yesterday so the store clerk said they can take it back. Was really looking forward to it but looks like I'll have to wait another week or two.
