Bug When Sending Out Sync Over Network

I'm using the Akai Midi Network to send MTC and MIDI to Logic.

Everything will be working fine, but if I turn off the Sync in the MPC X, it stops sending MIDI as well.

Then I can't get it to read Sync again. It's as if turning sync off turns the output to the Midi Network off completely.

FYI I have it hooked up to a Mac via a USB to Ethernet cable.

Any ideas?

EDIT it wasn't doing this until upgrading to 2.91

What OS is your Mac running?? The Network MIDI app 'broke' in Big Sur, the app still opens but the display is totally blank. Mine was still working though even though I couldnt see the IP address or anything. Logic was still sending sync out to the AKAI Network MIDI port and the MPC was chugging along just fine. At some point over the last couple of Big Sur updates, it broke completely, I cant get it to work at all anymore here. App still opens but I get no connection to the MPC anymore and Logic aint sending a damn thing to it now. I had to break out a MIDI cable and go from my MOTUs built in MIDI output to the MPC's MIDI A in and have to send MIDI clock to good old fashioned way until they get off their asses and finally update all this crap.

Damn I wonder if its 2.9.1 that broke it? Im on Big Sur and mine was working perfect up until a couple weeks ago (I havent tried it in a couple months since Ive been writing). I completely missed the 2.9.1 update and got it a few days late, but Im pretty sure the last time I used the network sync was before that. Maybe its not Apple's fault totally this time. Id flash back to 2.9.0 but **** it, I dont trust going backwards in this thing since its working fine for the most part haha.

Good news, your AMT8 works better than it ever did on a computer haha. One of the devs secretly wrote a Linux driver for it which is now baked into the linux kernel, so this thing works like there's no tomorrow on any Linux setup without any work (unlike the MacOS and Windows). Id be totally dead without mine, 20 years old and still nowhere near needing to be replaced! Cant say that about MOTU's MIDI interfaces..

Yeah I fired it up last night. The drivers are still on the Apple site and there's a guy who wrote a control panel for it. Everything working smooth now. I think I'll just use the X like an old fashioned MPC (w a touch screen and insane memory!)

Thats how mine runs for the most part. The only time I connect it to the computer is to back up the hard drive. Other than that its only syncing MIDI with Logic Pro. I love it, I dont have to touch the computer for anything anymore until its time to record it and mix it. The control panel for the AMT doesn't work anymore under Big Sur. It installs but wont open. Luckily you dont need it to use it with the MPC, it just shows up as 8 ins and outs like it should. I was shocked the day I connected it and it all popped up, Akai knocked that one out of the park!

I wouldn‘t know that beforehand, but it‘s all I need for creating (good?) music. The techy stuff like mixing takes place on a computer without any MPC-related stuff, but the workflow without a computer and only the device is a bliss! Can‘t imagine getting back to the computer.

I cant do it anymore hah. My other EMU died on me last month so while I was waiting for parts/another one I decided I was going to fire up Logic and try to write a track or two just with Logic but just ended up running in circles as always. Pulled out the MPC in the end. I think that's probably why I have a tough time 'finishing' things nowadays. I have too much fun making it like I used to, I just move on to the next one because I dont want to sit at the computer to do the mixing.

then why not hand it over to a mix partner?

To me....Working in a DAW like environment is Like Riding The Bus to your Destination. The Computer does all the work while you are Sight Seeing

Standalone is like Gettin in the Front Seat, Workin the Gears, Brakes, and Gas. Using your mind to make creative workarounds. Not much time to Sight See.
