MPC Feature request. Elektron probability.

Probability feature like the Elektron Digitakt & devices.

The Elektron Digitakt (Drum sequencer/Sampler) has Probability locks PER STEP. So you can set a hihat step to say, 50%, to go off each time the sequence plays. Or set them all at 70% and you get a nice hihat sequence that's *always* changing.

It's one of the MAIN selling points of the Elektron devices. I think MPC can add this in PERFECTLY. Here's how:

In the MPC Step Sequencer when you select the PARAMETER option along the top, you can press the knob then "Add New" then select "Pad A01" (Or whichever pad!) then "Parameters" you get a whole list of stuff you can set on a PER STEP basis.

ADD IN "Probability" and each step can be set from 0-100 for percentage! So when that step is "played" a random number is generated and if it's lower than the number set then it plays! Now you have Elektron probability feature that is so popular. It's one of the ONLY things I miss dearly on my MPC and keep going back to my Digitakt for!

Sounds like a nice idea and might be a great future. But MAYBE direct that request towards Akai, since this is a user forum not affiliated with them.

In the mean time you can assign some of the four layers with the same sample (or variation ) and set layers to random triggering, so you have
25%.50%,75% depending on how many layers you loaded the sample

Yep! I've seen the layering tricks on a few youtube videos and it's a bit of a pain. But I think simply adding in a 'Probability' option into the Parameter section is a no-brainer to me. Akai has gone out of their way with this new generation that I was honestly surprised they missed this feature!

I sent in the request to Akai as well, but I thought generating some discussion would get some opinions and also some more visibility. I'm sure they're reading these forums because these MPCs are their babies and want to see what people think of them. Who knows if their 'Contact Us!' actually goes anywhere.

Probability with reverse & invert events was one of my first feature requests .

doesn't noise and S&H LFO generate random ? says it does in the manual

The S&H LFO can generate random values but has nothing to do with random triggering.
You can assign it to 'amp' , but still it's a different thing

Yeah, it's not even "random" that is a big deal, it's being able to set a set of notes to 70% and a set of notes to 90% and you can get some great rhythms that are never "repeat". Your ears notice. Especially great for beats with double kicks, claps, and hats.
