I have two instrument cords that I have ran from the outputs of the focusrite audio interface that I have into the the in's of my MPC One and no sound is coming in. I thought it would work in theory and I'm sure there's a way and I'm probably doing it wrong of course. I'm trying to sample sounds I've loaded into Pro Tools, or off of YouTube and I can't even get anything to happen. Can someone help out with this? I wouldn't know what else outputs of a interface would be for besides sending sounds from them into or thru something else. I'm a bit confused. I know i could do it with RCA out into my MPC but i have no RCA cords at the moment. I know there's gotta be a way to do it with the outs via instrument cords..Don't clown me please lol

Go into Sampler and adjust the input.

I use mpc x but I think you can do this also.

Is your audio interface actually outputting audio to that connection?

Also to preview the input audio, you can go to the track selection screen, highlight an audio track (as opposed to midi) and hit the button that says "in" till it says "auto" then it will play through, or capture when that track is highlighted (if you do have a signal registering on the VU meter). lol, the little volume dial beside the inputs always gets me...

Thats the thing. I play the songs and hear it but the meters aren't bouncing in the mpc or when I put it on the auto start for when there's input, it doesn't start and no input of sound in the mpc

Nah they are newer and rarely used. I have 5 of them and none of them work. I've tried switching them out. And my mpc one is less than 2 weeks old. I just got it brand new out the box and never used the inputs

This one can be tricky. I am guessing you have a virtual mixer that came with the focusrite? What you may want to do is make sure that the volume is up on the output channels in that mixer (if you have one). The other thing to check is for a “loopback” function. That will take the sound that comes from Youtube..etc and Loop it back to your outputs. I suspect that may be the issue, but I don’t have your interface.

Don't worry man, it's an honest mistake... I was going to scroll back up and see if you had the Live or One and suggest checking the input volume knob. Glad you got yourself squared :D

Happens to the best of us. I thought my summing mixer to be broken after I moved, but I just turned down the mix volume to the lowest setting when removing the cables. No outboard mixing for two months, and oh did I feel stupid when I realized this.

The difference in audio quality is negligible, and certainly would never be heard in a proper mix. Sample however you like.

Agreed.
