New to MPC One- very basic beginners questions

Before anything else, I am happy to now be a member of this community. I am happy to now own an MPC One (gold edition). It is something that I dreamed about my whole life but when I was a kid didn't really have the resources.

Thankfully I can afford the good toys today and I am happy to throw in with you guys. I have been studying lots of YouTube tutorials and this forum the past few months.

I have a few "right off the ground" beginner questions that I was hoping that some good folks might be able to point me in the correct direction with. Fortunately for you guys, today I am just shooting out ONE question (you guys will come to find out that I can throw out some doozies of questions haha!)

I booted up the MPC One. I understand that it seems I cannot hear audio without headphones (I am working on getting a good pair). However, I am wondering if it is possible to somehow connect my One to my MacBook Pro? Like so the audio can come out of the MacBook. Is this possible?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help out a rookie figure out which way is left and right!

Is there another part of this forum where people share some of their creations? Would love to get a gist of what other folks are doing. Just curious as to what kinds of sounds can come out of this thing at different levels of expertise.

It sounds obvious because it is. You can find your way around for maybe 80% of your machine‘s capabilities JUST by working through the first 30-or-so pages (quickstart).

The manual is really well written (I‘d suggest working through it at least once and directly try out what you read), and MPC-Tutor‘s MPC Bible fills the voids you didn‘t know they were there.

Other than that: Welcome and enjoy your fancy new toy.

And yes, in controller mode you can set MPC Software‘s audio output to your local machine.

Yes, you can work in 'controller mode' using the MPC Software. There is an option in the software preferences > audio to route the audio out of your computer instead of the MPC. But you'll probably want to work in standalone mode, in which case no, you can't route to your computer.

But you should look at setting up a proper monitoring system, you don't have to spend a fortune. You can initially get by with just headphones if need be, I use a set of AKG 702 (open back), but Audio technica m40x (closed). are good for the money.

But ideally also look at grabbing some 'active' monitors, you won't need an amplifier with these, e.g. KRK rockits, and get a mixer to route everything to (e.g. your computer, MPC, synths etc). The behringer mixers are okay for budget mixers. So the chain would be:

MPC > Mixer > Active monitors

Use your headphones when you don't want to disturb people and for detailed work (e.g. sound design, sample editing etc).
