Bounce to Sample with Tails

Hi all,

Is there a way to use the track "Bounce to Sample" feature whilst preserving tails? I have a sequence I want to convert to a sample with a crash cymbal close to the last measure, and it truncates rather abruptly. The "Audio Tail Length" option in preferences doesn't seem to help unfortunately.

Any help or tips gratefully appreciated!

Quick fix: You could try lengthening your sequence for the time being.

When I sample my external workstation or even kontakt, I disable the loop of my sequence to let the release of my instrument finish then reloop my sequence to the original length.

The software doesn't know it's a cymbal crash, it just knows it's an event. Extend the length of the event and/or make it a note-on so it understands that something is still happening and it will probably do a better job for you.

You can Resample the Sample/Sequence with the Tail on it.

I got this from my roland MV days – the MPC LIVE makes this EZ with the half/double length option.

The example below involves a 4-bar sequences that I double into an 8-bar sequence. Last night, I doubled a 7-bar sequence into 14-bars.


I always record clips at double length; this way I have a perfect 4-bars in the middle of an 8 bar clip. I then load the clip into clip program [MV-audio phrases] & see if it loops smoothly. If it does, I leave it at 8 bars. if not, I get to work. The simplest solution is set the end slightly after the 4 bar mark and hope the warp cleans it up.


There is more work if you have a long sound/delay at the end of the 4-bars. Ableton makes this EZ, I have yet to master it with the MPC LIVE.

Thank you all for your helpful replies. They're all great suggestions! I just though that - since there was an option to set the tail length for bouncing down tracks during export, there might be an option to do the same when bouncing down to a sample.
