Connecting the Live to SP 404

Hi,

Sorry for beeing a noob but I want to connect the Live to the Roland SP 404 and use the SP for effects. I have rca to 1/4 jack going from the Live to the SP and from the SP into the audio interface. Since I don't here the effects from the SP, what am I missing?

well you pushed the source pad for the input and then turned on an effect right? and also turned up the knob to make sure the mix of the effect is up?

external source button, turn on fx, and thats it, using same combo with sp303, works great

I have an MPC X and Roland SP-404 SX. Love this tandem! However, I am currently experiencing two problems.

1.) I sample in my X and then add effects in my 404. But for the life of me I can’t resample back into the X with the effects I applied in the 404! I have watched this video at least 50 times and followed the steps exactly! Link to video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qiOcqyy8zgU

2.) When I am working in the 404 I cannot hear the sound through my speakers. I have to plug in my headphones and then I’m good to go. I have to believe I am doing something wrong with my connections?

I have pictures but I’m on my iPhone and can’t seem to post them here. I will go on my laptop tomorrow and see if I can post them that way.

Sounds like a monitoring problem. How do you have the software or hardware monitoring on your X setup?

To keep things digital-to-digital, I suggest to hot swap the SD card from the 404SX and ram it in the MPC. This way you won't lose much audio from constantly resampling back and forth.

The problem is go to sampler mode and ensure input monitoring is turned on. You should hear it then.

you don't need to go to sampler mode, you can go to an audio track, set the correct input and turn monitoring to ON.
