midi control for sampling to a pad

I'm considering getting and MPC live II, but there's one key detail for my purpose I have not been able to confirm.

Will midi mapping work for the "pad tap" and "pad hold" sampling functions, in the same way it works for triggering pre-loaded samples?

I wanna use a foot controller to sample to a pad on-the-fly, while playing an instrument.
