I remember seeing people post about this in the past so sorry to repeat a post but I was just curious if i copped a MPC 2500, if it was possible for the mpc software or the live/x to open them and read the data properly. Im really assuming not, but it would be nice to know from someone who tried. Like even if just a specific thing like for example effects didnt carry over, i would be fine with that.

I have JJOS on my 2500. When I get home from work, i'll try to transfer some projects over to My LIVE. Will be interesting, being as though I haven't touched my 2500 in over a year or so

Projects from the 2500 with akai os open pretty well tho filters fx sends all get lost or out of wack, last i checked the start and end points of the samples needed to be set again when saving a mpc live project as a 2500. over all it works fine with a quick check thru each song, theres a few jjos options the live cant do still so somethings are bound to be left behind, interested on the answer as i have a few frinds on jjos that want me to trackout their songs

yeah word. i just work have a quick flow on the mpc 2500 with jjos. Had to sell it back in the day. Almost bought one before the live got leaked. Then ended up running into a free live. so how could i say no.
Ive had the 1000, 2500 and 5000. I like the live, but im still getting to know it. Im only a couple months in, but i was too busy for it during the holidays. its a shame the controls or screen werent on the other side. also i miss the sliders, but ill just midi to an external source for that.

I was personally thinking of using the live on the go, as a controller and for other reasons, but leaving home the 2500 with jjos. Work on some projects in the 2500, pop em in the software(if they read) and touch up the beat, explode em. Sounds alittle silly i know. but bear wit me.

If i know what it reads and doesnt read than i would know what i could skip and save for tweaking in software.

I would get the X but i feel like the price is a bit much since a labtop is no where near that steep. I dont own many hardware synths these days so its not a big need for it all. I guess i didnt pay for the live so i might just drop the $ on the X in the future. who knows. I definitely remember my flow on the 2500, it was quick and i seen some cheap 2500's in my area. 8)

Im so glad someone else has noticed the screen and controls are on the wrong side for the live, this has been my main critisim from the start, would be a much better instrument if was otherway round. very frustrating

I still prefer to make my initial beats on the 2500, usually re-sample the outs then take it to the live/software to complete, the pitch aliasing on the 2500 and the output amp has a sound im used to and the drums always sound better than on the live

I basically work like this. I run JJOS1, do chopping, sequencing, tuning, filtering, panning and adjusting levels inside the 2500 before contuing inside the Live and/ or software. The only thing that doesn’t really translate well are the filters (obviously) in my case.

So in jjos1 you dont lose the envelopes or anything? just the filters? interesting....

Resurrecting this thread — I'm trying to migrate my JJOS MPC-1000 sequences, programs, and Autoload files to my new MPC Live II. So far my main drum programs [for my 808/909 sounds. etc] are all triggering near the end of the sample. The envelopes are not shifted, and the full sample is loaded, but I'm hearing only the second half of the sample tail. So Kicks, Claps, Rimshots are almost non-existent. :(

This link addresses some of the cross-compatability issues
https://www.mpc-samples.com/article/mpc ... tibility-1

And this NI forum link addresses JJOSXL sample migration
https://www.native-instruments.com/foru ... ne.123946/

Of all of the Mac apps that worked in Catalina, Big Sur, or beyond, MPC Maid is the only one that launched and it won't open up old programs from my CF Card. RS-16X, MPCPad187 and 2000XL don't work in any OS made in the last 7-8 years.

Has anyone else been down this road yet, with any workarounds? I have dozens of sequences to convert/update and really don't want to lose all of the work I put into the MPC-1000 over the last 10 years.

You don't say which JJOS you are running. As stated in this topic, you shouldn't have too many issues with the free JJOS or JJOS1, but JJOSXL and JJOS3 are likely to be problematic and I doubt any of those apps are going to help. No one quite knows why JJOSXL doesn't play nice, apparently it's still the same program format and structure, he's just accessing things differently so I believe it ends up causing havoc when played through akai OS. Do the samples play fine in sample edit? Is it only when played within a program that they cut off?
