Importing Large User Sample Libraries into the MPC Live 2

How can I transfer huge drum sample libraries of my own samples into the MPC Live 2? This seems like a very simple task and should be really easy, but I can't seem to figure it out.

Have searched the forums (here and elsewhere), the AKAI manual and YouTube, with no success. Lot's of info on how to import a sample at a time, but nothing for mass import of large folders of lots of drum samples.


When the MPC is connected via controller mode, you can drag folders into the MPC software and they will become a part of the active project...

...but I don't want them stuck inside of a specific MPC project. Instead, I simply want to save them all to a centralized location on the MPC's internal drive, preferably in the following folder:

/ MPC Documents / Samples


How does everyone else load their huge user sample libraries into their MPC Live 2, for use in all projects?

Am new with the MPC Live and really appreciate any and all help!

Just make a template project with all your samples and then use that project as a starting point for all your other projects. Problem solved.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it! Yeah -That's what I've done as a workaround, but it's far from ideal. For example - If someone sends me their MPC project file to remix (or if I am working on an existing project of my own), this workaround prevents me from accessing my user samples.

So I need to purchase and use an SD card or an HDD in order to save my own user sample libraries? Weird drawback, but I'll definitely do it if necessary.

BTW - what search string(s) would you suggest I use to find that info here on the forum?

Any SD should work fine. i have used Sandisk and Lexar for years in various pieces of gear. My X uses 2 Lexar SD’s at the moment and that same SSD I mentioned above (many peeps here use this SSD.

It’s not weird, the firmware/OS uses the internal AZ01 and if you start messing with it in ANY way you will eventually cause errors. That storage isn’t meant for user storage, it should have been hidden so no one could see it in the first place. Horror stories all around about people using it, don’t become a horror story.
