MPC One effects workflow question/help

Hi all,

I'm getting more and more familiar with my new MPC One, and I'm trying to figure out the most efficient workflow for inserting effects in some sequences of a song, but not the others.

Back when I was using a DAW like Reason, I would create an automation to enable an effect for one part of song to do a frequency sweep right before the chorus for example. I wouldn't have to change anything for the rest of the song because the default value of the effect was off.

Example with the MPC One:
I have multiple sequences and one of them is the pre-chorus sequence. I want to add a delay effect to one of the instruments in a crescendo. The problem is that if I add the delay effect and automate the mix knob, all other sequences will have the mix knob at some random value based on when the automation was stopped, which means that I would have to add an automation at value zero for all other sequences.

The other thing I could do is wait until I convert my separate sequences into a single sequence in song mode, and then add the automation right then.

What do you think is the most efficient workflow for this?

Interesting, best way to do this would be from the list edit?

EDIT: I see that it can also be done from the sequencer as well by choosing the right parameter. The only downside to this is that if I stop the sequence in the middle, and play another sequence after that, then the value of the mix knob is kept since it's only set to zero at the end of the sequence. This seems like a reasonable downside if you know about it.

I‘d duplicate the program, insert it there and exchange the program in that particular sequence.

Because of the way converting multiple sequences into a single works (song mode), I'm guessing that it would be best to do that on a separate new track?
