I'll file a support ticket, but they've been giving me the runaround for another problem for weeks, so I don't expect much from them.

Back in 2018, I got a Live, tried to connect it to my computer, and it didn't work. I stuck with standalone because I wanted to use it on the go anyway.

Over time, I wanted to get more out of it. Specifically, I wanna warp audio without the warbling artifacts, which are supposed to be not as bad or gone when using the software on a decent PC.

So the other day, I tried to connect it to my newer PC, thinking that it wouldn't work on the old one due to its age and lack of USB resources, but again, it's just stuck on "Looking for computer."

I've tried different USB ports, 3 and 2, I've tried rebooting several times, I made sure I'm using the latest versions of both the Live firmware and the MPC software, I reset the hardware preferences, I tried all sorts of variations of controller mode vs opening the software vs attaching the cable first or last, and none of it worked. I tried removing and uninstalling the device drivers, with some more rebooting, didn't work. I can see the additional internal storage drive I added, but that's it.

I can get as far as seeing the ASIO device in the software, but the menu entry shows up even when the MPC isn't connected, so all that shows is that the driver was installed.

I don't really know what else to try. Everything I said above, I spent a few hours trying multiple times. I'm using a mobo from last year and a Ryzen 5800X.

Just tried that again, no dice. Uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted, still just Looking for computer. Doesn't matter if I start the software first or enable controller mode first.

I take it your driver actually installs ok? Mine wouldn't (as per the tech support email below), but although it took a little while, akai support were really good and helped me to get it up and running.

Tech query: I'd like some help please: the driver will not install. (1.0.8, Win10). Installer hangs on 'starting services'. Error popup: "Service 'MPC Live Audio Device Monitor' (MPCLiveAudioDevMon) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." The application is listed in the services (Win+R > services.msc) with automatic startup type. When I try to run it run there, error popup: "Windows could not start[...] Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." Properties shows path to executable "C:\Program Files (x86)\Akai Professional\MPC Live\AudioDevMon.exe" Attempting to run this (as admin or not) gives error: "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCR110.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." A search shows that dll is installed here: "C:\Windows\System32\msvcr110.dll"

Akai support has been pretty awful for me. I have three unresolved tickets with them. It's like they kinda just gave up on me, or don't care.

I just wanna use this thing on my PC like I'm supposed to be able to. I dunno why it's gotta be so hard.

The driver seems to install fine for me. I tried running the audio monitor in admin mode, but that didn't make a difference.
