:worthy: Profound!
Akai with its MPC new line can not fulfill my needs. I like my machines blown out and since Akai is not on that level with the new MPCs l let it go.
I stopped sampling in like 2002 l believe. Got heavy into playing what l heard in my head. Learning how to play and music bought me a long way. Now if l hear a dope sample l'll do it just for rec and fun to see if l still have it. :)

Sold my MPC live, built me a super powerful PC , use the LPD8 for drumming and lm lit! I don't worry about ram, PDC , speed, disk streaming etc. My MPC days are over. Thanks to Akai. I love the MPC 2000XL but the technology is old and l can't put my feelings of the past to match with the modern age. My new MPC is my PC . Akai will NEVER give me all what I need, did the nect best thing :)

Take the leap you wont regret it. :smoker:

Ultros wrote:So the ultimate question is "do I even need an actual MPC unit anymore?" I have been thinking about stand alone vs the software lately myself... i could sell the damn mpc, buy a 32bit soundcard and an mpd and i'd likely be better off.

Im actually tempted to build a new pc
I'm torn as to whether i should love the modern mpc or FKN HATE IT.

I dont do much sampling either, i try my best to generate new stuff with instruments. Have been doing it that way for 18 years or so. I like sampled music as an artform but it just isnt me. I like you enjoy a stash of hardware.

IMHO.... I have Both Avenues. Standalone and PC/Software Apps. For everything the MPC is Lacking, I have Software to fall back on. Vice Versa!

I need Both Software and Standalone to Get Down n Dirty.

I would Never Give away my Mustang because i Have a Suburban. I keep one in the Garage when i wanna drive the other

Nothing Beats the MPC Line for Standalone Capabilities

My Advice....Use Em Both
