MPC Samples Expansions

Tutor, with the new "Synths" folder we now have, wouldn't it now be possible for your Expansions to be updated to include cool GUI of the instruments?
I don't know if this is possible but it would be really nice to have them in the plugin section rather than the "old-fashioned" expansions

BIG well done to the software team at AKAI for putting together this huge update. I know a lot of us were hoping (expecting) the arranger but I have a feeling that towards the end of the year Santa will be bringing us something Spectacular!

If they could find a way of adding external monitor support (like the MV did yeaaarrrsss ago) either through usb or maybe with new MPC's next year that would awesome. I know a lot of people ask why do you want monitor support when you have a computer but it's just nice to have a large screen and still not have to mess around with computers (I know the MPC is a computer but so is my toaster) once we get that, I'm done

....just thinking that wouldn't it have been a good idea for AKAI to have moved the current plugins (Tubesynth, Electric, Drumsyth etc) off the internal system drive and just add them to the Synths folder. That would then free up a lot of space for more important updates!
Thinking about it, wouldn't it have been better to call the new folder "Plugins" instead of Synths, just to future-proof themselves

Expansions are built around sample programs, it's not possible to give them a new GUI, we have to use the keygroup/drum program GUI. Nothing we could ever do about that unless Akai implement something at their end.

Those original synths don't really take up that much space, it's mostly just basic waveforms. They aren't 'sample based' like Hype for example, so taking them out of the firmware is unlikely to free up anything of note.

Expansions are built around sample programs, it's not possible to give them a new GUI, we have to use the keygroup/drum program GUI. Nothing we could ever do about that unless Akai implement something at their end.

That's a shame, it would have been cool. Maybe there's something you could cook up in the future using the new feature

Coming from an MV88 monitor and mouse support would mean instant upgrade for me. At this point that's the only thing missing. Imagine a live with monitor and mouse support.

Could expansions include hype presets?
I would definitely buy a dark dnb/neurofunk expansion of preset patches for the new synths!
Nothing wrong with designing my own, but there are people who are much more talented at sound design than I'll ever be.

It's wasn't possible to bulk import presets, not sure if that's changed now. The best options was to provide them as plug-in programs with the custom preset applied

Just had a look, as the new synths presets are stored on your attached disk then it should be possible to bulk paste custom presets to Hype's presets folder. I will try it out when I get the chance.

The problem with tubesynth and the other built in synths is the presets are all on the internal drive, so we can't drag and drop bulk folders there.

You should also be able to create custom skins as well as all the files for the skins are there and configs can be edited and images swapped out.

Awww Sh*t! You right...We can edit the Skins. That means we Can Mimic Another Synth with Different Skins and Presets/with Samples! Thats Basically how VSTi's work....Kinda lol

Sounds like there may be some big advantages to having hype rolled out the way it was, rather than just being a part of the new firmware.
