so i´m getting more and more into my mpc and it is a cool thing to have around in the studio.
i´ve been doin some sequences and programs and stuff the last couple of days and saved them on my drive. i already feel that my drive is getting a bit messy, so i really need to find a way to organize my stuff, otherwise its going to grow into chaos.
do you have any good suggestions?

what i do is lable my folders into groups such as songs, samples etc. Than i make another folder inside the main folders for sub groups kicks, snares, and loops and individual songs. I save seq, multi, and progams in the same folder for each song.

make a file called "autoload" and throw everthing in there. When you turn on the mpc it will autoload everything you had in there automatically

Now thats a stupid idea,,, like god hasnt got anything better to do then sorting some sequences out(world peace, cure for aids and cancer, planning the judgement day, ressurect the dead)
You cant drag and drop files in Akaisys so you have to take out your hd and put it in your pc, and then sort them out by creating new maps and drag m back and forth

ive been creating a new folder for each song. Then just saving the "entire memory" into each folder.

So all the sequences, multis, programs for that particular song go in its own folder.....this way i dont have to worry about naming samples because i wont overwrite any, and im not worried about space because i back everything up on my computer.

To make folders and organize them, you use Aksys.
With Aksys you can:
make programs
rename data and folders
delete and create folders

if you want to move a file or folder, drag the file or folder to your windows or apple desktop and drag it back into the new folder i the MPC. Peace of cake.
Maybe Akai can update Aksys so you can move folders and make programs without having to fire up the MPC (-> slow USB connection)

ah, i tried movin stuff within my internal drive of the mpc but it just didn´t work, but of course just puttin it on my mac and then back to aksys would solve it.

thanks
