OK, I will try to keep this intro short. Me: experienced synth player in live band with guitar and bass, drummer quit. About 25% of our songs are sequenced on Nord G2X (possible but a huge PITA). We have programmed a bunch of stuff up on an SR-16 that our bassist had in a closet (no need to comment on THAT.) It is time to bite the bullet and upgrade both sequencing and drums; I am stoked to get an MPC Live.
But, a question re capabilities. My G2X is programmed such that when I load a song , it sends out MIDI commands to my other G2, sampler, etc. to select the proper patch, volume, etc. This is all before I hit Start on the sequencer. (This is so luxurious when performing... I literally only have to touch one dial and one button between songs.) I'm wondering how well the MPC Live can participate in this. I'm hoping that it can either 1) send out a stream of arbitrary MIDI commands when a song is selected (sequence within a project?) or 2) it is possible to somehow select a song (sequence? or even a project?) for playback via MIDI program changes, CC, whatever.
