out of sync

Hey....also I have my computer program as the master and the mp as the slave....well i have some songs on the computer program and what i'm doing is sorta remixing or sprucing up the original song with some added flavor from the mp....the problem is is when i hit play on the computer it starts the mp fine but they seem to be out of sync by just a little bit.....is there something i need to make an adjustment to..or is this somewhat normal....thanx

WHat OS are you running, what soundcard do you use, and what DAW are you using? These would all be good things to know before giving you an answer. To answer your other question, though, it IS normal for the MPC to be out of sync before adjusting certain settings, but I can tell you mine is DEAD synced to Logic on the Mac after some tweaking of settings....

u need to make sure u are sending the correct frame rate from the pc select 25 frames mtc and then select the same on the mpc thats how i do it i use cubase sx

This is probally your problem. I use Cubase SX 2 also and have to created a blank dummy sequence so that it gives Cubase & MPC to lock up to sync.

Most Pro Tools engineers start a session at the one hour mark to avoid clock problems with locked external devices. Hardware sequencers and drum machines can get confused knowing what time it is if a session is rewound past zero, and its always a good idea to leave room before a song in case some serious rearrangement happens during production. But typically the same engineers won't give themselves any pre-roll and instead indicate bar 1/beat 1 at the same one hour mark, which is another challenge for external hardware devices like Akai's popular MPC-3000.

"Let's say you've programmed a sequence on an MPC-3000 and you're trying to dump it into Pro Tools," says Blanch. "If you start the session at one hour, set that as bar 1/beat 1 and don't have any pre-roll, then the MPC does a little hiccup in the first bar. It starts fast and then catches up with itself but its definitely noticeable and you have to go back and clean that up. The MPC is seeing code all of a sudden at the top of the song and it sort of jumps to catch up to Pro Tools
