2Q: USB AUDIO and NW.

I am a complete newbie in the MPC line of instruments. I have not made music for at least 12 years and am 58.
I have just bought an MPC One and waiting for custom-clearance. (ps - I forgot to say that i am starting up again because my 6,4 and 3 year old boys are showing some skillz...)

Ok, reading some manuals and stuff waiting I came up with 2 questions, namely:
1. Will the USB AUDIO stream to your PC only stereo or multitracks?
2. What exactly can you do with the NW Link?

Greetings cyber7 - hope everything is going well in Cape Town! To answer your questions:

1. USB Audio doesn't "stream to your PC" at all. USB Audio means your MPC One will support a USB Class Complaint audio interface. Your PC is NOT one of those. It's a computer that also requires an audio interface. The point of the MPC One is to use your MPC in standalone, away from your computer for production. If all you want to do is use it tethered to your computer, then you'll run it in Controller Mode via USB, while running the MPC Software in either a standalone desktop app or run it as a VST plugin inside of your DAW of choice. You can also Control Ableton Live daw (with limits) in this manner.

2. The MPC One doesn't have Wifi, so if you wish to use Ableton Link (to sync the MPC transport to other apps compatible with Abelton Link), then you have to use CAT5 network cable and run it between your MPC One and your router (or computer). This is what Ableton Link can do:

No worries! Also, make sure you get a fast SD Card or USB stick to save all of your samples, Expansions, and Projects to. Do *NOT* save anything to the built-in storage (treat it like "Read Only" storage). It's very limited in size and filling it up with data will cause problems down the line. Assuming you also update to firmware 2.10 (highly recommended), then you'll need to install the Synth content folder on a fast SD Card or USB stick anyway.

AH, thanx mate! I did get myself some 64gig USB thumb drives and some SD cards. Do I have to dump the entire Synth Content to every SD card (If I want to swap them)?

If you are planning on swapping SD cards, you'll want the synth data on each.

I'm not sure that it will let you eject the card in it has the Synth folder on it though... so you may want to test and see where you might like to store that data.
