MPC Live not sending sequence first note on external midi

Hi all,

i use MPC live as the master midi clock for a bunch of old hardware synths, connected via a Motu Time Piece 2 midi patch bay. I play MPC sequences over 32 different midi channels.
It all works fine except for two synths: Roland JV 1080 and Yamaha TG77. In these cases, the system doesn't sound the first midi note of a MPC sequence. They simply doesn't play the note at 001:01:01 , but only for the first loop!
I've looked for strange CC messages or Midi settings, but everything it's the same that other Korg, Access o Roland synths I got.

So, any idea on how to solve this strange situation?

Had this same issue on my Live2. It was annoying as hell.
I didn't have it on my X but maybe it was the project. I even shortened the last sample so it doesn't go off the screen/loop/sequence and still didn't help it. If I nudged it to the right it would help it trigger but not help with timing. Ever since this update I definitely have been having strange behavior with my MPC's. Can't deny that.

This isn't a fix, just a contribution. My live has always (sometimes) done this thing where it sometimes misses events at the beginning of the track. Pressing Stop and then Play/Start makes it work correctly. It's never really been a big enough problem for me to look in to it. I wonder if thats anything to do with the OP issue...

This is most likely based on the old issue that the MPCs do not send a steady clock (like other synth do...).
The connected hardware needs to synchronise and it drops notes at the beginning.
Do Not:
- send program/bank changes from the sequence with music on it (see below the best practice)
- make the MPC be your master clock - far to unsteady, measurement data to be found here in the forum

Best Practice:
- if you work the strategy "total recall", prepare a setup seq of 1 or 2 bar length, enough time to have the synth and all in correct mode (e.g. the above mentioned program/bank changes)
- avoid by all means a program/bank change between sequences - adding a separate seq is to be used and the required Program/Bank change can happen within the last bar of the previous sequence to enable a nice change

Tip:
- do not forget to switch OFF the Time Correction if recording an external sequencer
- do not forget to switch ON the Time Correction if you like to play with the strange outcome of it - sometimes quite nice....

Important Basic Understanding:
- Making the MPC a Slave is resulting in a difficult situation, highly discussed here in the forum, the audio Track recording is NOT working anymore. For what reason ever the audio recording works only if the MPC is Master.

Yeah happens for me on my ob6 annoying has heck. You shouldn't need to leave empty bars that seems a sledgehammer fix
